Seriously, why do people have to drive slow, especially in the fast lane? Its so irritating, and it makes my commute take waay longer than it should. I wish I could sue slow drivers for stealing my time.

Lol... driving slow sucks! I drive fast cause its fun! How about the fucking stoners that drive 20mph UNDER... lol, im guilty of that sometimes. But still... driving fast is where its at... Its a lot more then just "getting to work" or whatever. Sometimes its i gota pee... or theres a girl waiting naked in my bed... two things i sure the hell would hurry for!
I particularly hate the faggots that drive in the left lane 10mph under while passing a sign that says "Traffic stay right. Left Lane passing ONLY" cause some how that fuck-tard and the douchebag in the right lane are going the same speed on a two lane highway...

I live in NJ, and besides the fact that most people suck at driving here, it seems people REALLY suck in any sort of winter weather
There are people going 45 or less on the parkway when it's wet out from snow and people doing 80 because it's not really bad out. It's a shitty mix

I should say, I'm not really in a hurry as much as I just want to maximize the advantages afforded to be by owning an automobile. The car can safely go 95 mph, and I feel comfortable driving 95, so why not drive 95?

the highest spped limit here is 120klm and theyve been making all local government housing areas 50 klm zones and a few metres in another street from same intersection but in owned home areas its 60klm
you cant get into 3rd or fourth gear in an automatic and i believe 50klm an hour fucks your engine
you actually have to keep breaking on a desolate road because the speed limits 50
ahhhhh oil on roads

Because how you feel on the road doesnt change the statistical reality that at those speeds thousands of more people die per year. Now I know you 'feel' like you wouldnt be the one to cause an accident, but you dont really expect the public to ignore statistics and appeal to anecdote when dealing with safety on public roads do you?

When dealing with an activity as inherently dangerous as driving, who is to say exactly where that line into negligence is? After all, the leading cause of accidents is fatigue. Should we start pulling people over and testing them to see how tired they are? No, of course we shouldn't. Instead, we rely on their own personal judgment and allow them to determine for themselves whether they are fit to drive. Likewise, in my personal judgment, going 95 mph down a sprawling freeway 12 lanes wide is not necessarily excessive depending on conditions, regardless of what the law says. After all, this is the same government that says marijuana is dangerous and useless. BTW, sometimes when I'm going that fast, I get passed by cops.

Thats the point Im making. You dont expect the public to base safety issues and laws on your anecdotes do you? Of course not. They have only statistics to go by. There is an optimization between speed limit and safety that must be made, and elected lawmakers make that decision based on statistics of highway deaths vs. speed limits. Of course in any distribution there are outliers (you may be a great driver at 95mph), but you cant make a decision based on the outliers - that would be stupid.

I rarely look at my speed. I just drive whatever speed feels comfortable which is usually under the speed limit. I will go the speed limit though If their are cars behind me which isn't to often seeing that most of my driving is done late at night.

true, so what it comes down to is prudent enforcement, which is one thing the good old CHPs seem to succeed at. Like I said, I get passed by cops when I'm speeding sometimes. I think I heard somewhere that they try not to pull people over on the freeway unless they're doing something serious, because their statistics determined that its often more dangerous to pull people over than are the infractions they're committing.

haha speaking of speed i havent had a spedometre in my car since last july,it broke the day after it was registered,i think the mechanic did it because they had to change my alternator and they were telling me it was a a bastard to get off cause the bolts were siezed and it only cost 160 for that so i think they broke it to get another 100 out of me

anyway i dont have a spedometre and dont know my speed but fuck ive been driving that long i know the speed in my mind when i take it back in july to get registered it wont have any miles clocked on for the year
then ill say,its sat in my yard for a a year,yeah that bloody speed cable was awesome,magic huh

The autobahn is the safest road. Why? People who drive it arent stupid... however when there is an accident, usually its fatal.
I've done 160mph, public roads, rush hour, hot pursuit. Not by an means proud, but to make a point... all it would have taken was one rock, one snail, a single car;s ignorance or small mistake to take me out, and i would have cut anything in two. I know my limits... but i dont know others. And its that factor there that is scary. Cause i dont care how fast your reactions are... anything above 100mph and its up to luck for you to make it out alive...
Thats all on a bike... a car is different only in that it stops slower, and less agile, thus (IMO) making it even worse.
Take it from me... its just not worth it. Anything over 15mph over is uncalled for... Its one thing to put your life at risk, but when your putting others in just as bad of a situation, thats just stupidity...

Yea, I think in germany they have real driving courses and a rigorous test unlike here in the states where a pulse gets you a license. I would definitely be interested in implementing that here. (As you can guess, road safety is one of my 'things'. So many lives lost on the road - its like a warzone; but people dont seem to care)

Yup... and in Japan you gota be 18. Why? They realize what dangers come with driving a car, and take nessisary precaution to prevent that. I think you should have to really pwn a driving course to be able to get your license. They should teach weight transfer (prevent roll overs... the little warning in the visor just doesnt cut it), and proper brake control as well as you should have to drive manual and auto. I fucking hate people who cant drive a stick and stall or roll back on hills... LEARN TO DRIVE!
