I think it can be chalked up like this:

If you have grains, work with them, and like them, make a myc water 'LC', for the obvious reasons.

For cake growers and therefore alot of noobs, "sugar" LC is really the only way; without either buying grains and learning them, or buying agar and learning how to use it.

I've used LC:s in the past, and if you do them right they're a nice shortcut for cloning. MS LC:s are mostly pointless. People make LC:s too complicated IMO. Just throw in 100ml water, 2g honey, and PC for 15 minutes.

In the future I'll be doing agar plates though, for practical reasons mostly. You'll always know if your agar plate is clean or contaminated. Also you can make myc syringes straight from agar plates and use them for inoculation.

(My petri dishes hold 100ml of liquid. If you pour 20ml of agar on each it leaves 80ml free space to flush the mycelium with water to make a myc syringe. That's 8 syringes from one agar plate... in theory.)

I do it ass backwards this week.

I make an LC and test it on agar. or just throw it into grain, if it looks good.

Or dowel plug spawn.

I haven't seen it mentioned in this thread.. if useing agar... chop and change the medium to diffirent kinds... so that the myc soen't get dependant on one food type...
