Cubensis on sawdust?
    #9728237 - 02/03/09 12:10 PM (15 years, 16 days ago)

Would it be possible to grow cubensis in a mycobag on straight sawdust? I used to know a guy and I remember him saying that he grew cubensis on sawdust in mycobags(he worked at some mush growing place that had autoclave machines or something like that for sterilizing the bags before inoculation) and then once colonized he transfered them outside, put them in a shallow bed, mixed it around with soil, and watered it until mushrooms came.

Now my question is, would the mycelium be able to grow solely on sawdust? or did I miss something he said?

and if not..is there another strain that looks like cubensis(I'm only saying this because I have tried his shrooms before and they looked like cubensis) that can be cultivated on sawdust?

cubes dont grow on wood. All other species do. Use rye bags or wbs for cubies. I dont think pans will grow on wood either. Most likely he had a woodlover strain. Thats pretty much the only way to grow those is outdoors.

id say the majority all look the same dry. The difference between them more or less. Is the climates they grow in, and spore size. oh yes and chemical compounds. You know potencies.

Cubensis will grow on sawdust, but it is far from optimal by itself.

I used to add some composted hardwood sawdust to my bulk manure substrates for some extra lignin and water retention. It grew this.
