Apparently so I got this directly from a bulletin one of the bands (TV on the radio) posted on myspace.
MGMT is coming back this year too, I'm pretty excited about that actually

I would pay that much just for NIN, Mars Volta, TV on the radio, & MGMT
Although the others are definitely great bonuses

There is only a handful of bands on that list I'd like to see, not including the names that I didn't know (which I'm looking up now)
It would be amazing to see Portugal.the man at a festival I was pretty excited to see that name, also Of montreal an the Mars Volta both put on a good show. Hopefully if I get this job soon they give me the time off.
I bet snoop dogg is awesome in that type of environment I would love to bake out in his tour bus lol.

As evidenced by last night's performance, bruce springsteen is just flat out horrible.
As for this line up, . It's okay, but not nearly as good.

I would like to see NIN and MGMT. Mars Volta and the rest would just draw the sort of crowd I'd rather avoid than to endure and see the actual bands perform. What the fuck, Snoop Dogg?
His entourage will end up killing some hippies before all is said and done.

I don't know if I'd dig the NIN crowd
I like a few of there songs but for some reason I just assume their crowd is a bunch of people wearing hottopic clothes and black eyeliner and are probably just as douchy as Marylin Manson followers.

there, in about half an hour. We'll see if it's the same as the one you just posted.

I can't go to Bonnaroo anyway...my coworker has been going every year and I'm the one that has to cover for her when she goes away and vice versa. So I've got her back for Roo and she's got mine for Rothbury.
But yeah, if that weren't the case, I would go to this for sure. Damn.

Unless the line up is just atrocious, which I don't see happening.

My response in the fake lineup thread.
Quote:
jewunit said: Some of that makes me think "FUCK YEAH!" (Beastie Boys, David Byrne, TV on the Radio, Al Green, Snoop, Elvis Costello, Erykah Badu, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Andrew Bird, Bon Iver, Yeasayer, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, Santogold, Booker T, People Under the Stairs, and Band of Horses) but I could give a fuck less about any of the headliners or NIN.
Especially not interested in the heat and crowd that will be there. There will be just as good and better lineups this summer. If I had more time, more money, and more tolerance I would be there though.
I am pretty much a guarantee for Rothbury and Pitchfork regardless of lineup because I have enough confidence in Pitchfork to put together a good lineup for a cheap ticket and I just want to go to Rothbury.
Depending on the lineup I might make Lollapalooza as well.

i cant wait to see PHISH. i am so excited thaat they have decided to play this summer. i felt it coming up again, but i am still a little surprised it happened so quickly.
i cant fuckin wait man! PHISH live! i was too young to go check them out when they were still together. i started liking them because my bro loves them and had me check them out late in high school. he tried to convince me to get tickets to their 2004 show in indiana but i decided not to. i regret that so much! i am way more into PHISH now and fuckin cant wait at a shot to see them in the flesh. im gonna dance the night away high as hell and so happy.

I'm thinking this initial line up is somewhat of a disappointment. Yeah we’re all happy about the double dose of Phish but there’s not much past that. Last year's roo got less than raving reviews. Many felt that the festival lost site of its core fan base in an effort to reach a larger audience, aka book more mainstream acts, hope for larger ticket sales and increased profit. Rothbury popped up as a competitor offering a dream line up of "scene" favorites. It had huge success. I, for one, opted to forgo bonnaroo in 2008 to attend rothbury. I feel I definitely made the right choice. This was a new year and a new opportunity. With bonnaroo's unprecedented booking capabilities, they could have tried to win back the core fan base with a line up that could have made rothbury 08 look like a kid. Sure they got Phish and yes, that’s a big deal. If anything pulls me back to bonnaroo, it'll be the two phish shows. But imagine if, in addition to phish, the line up included fan favorites like STS9, Umphreys, MM(S)W, WSP, YMSB(w Fishman?), Les Claypool/ Primus and others. All those bands are easily within bonnaroo's reach and they have all played in years past. Hell its bonnaroo, we don't have to stop there! They could bring in almost any talent. Imagine if the Dead were co-headlining with phish. I would love if bonnaroo booked King Crimson, a hugely influential band that relatively few have heard of. If bonnaroo is truly dedicated to bringing new music as well as old favorites, how about adding Shpongle to the line up? Imagine a bonnaroo late night with shpongle live! Now that would attract a lot of people to bonnaroo, many of which would normally not even consider it. The line up seems like a pop fly; it’s no home run but maybe they can score with later artist additions. There were few pleasant surprises in the line up. I can appreciate the chance to see Volta and NIN. I haven’t seen either and both are said to put on good shows. In the same vein, I would have liked to see Opeth, Tool, and maybe even Meshugga. Girl talk is a great addition and David Grisman Quintet is a good measure to bring some more traditional flavor. The negatives... how about the last two thirds of the line up? I literally youtubed or myspaced all the artists on the line up that I had not heard of. Nothing stood out as a real winner. The unknowns included numerous uninspired and boring acts, stuff like shoegaze, new "new wave", and female singer songwriter types. Many of the other acts were simply "meh" level. The 'Jam' part of the fest is being replaced with indie and other, perhaps more trendy act. The line up even includes a couple of African bands, but where is the electronic music? The DJs? How about Bassnectar, Chromeo, Hallucinogen (In dub), Shpongle, MSTRCRFT, OTT, or Infected Mushroom? Camp bisco has had all of those artists in past years. Bonnaroo 2009 has none. So many prime acts from a variety of genres have been left out. I know they booked Oakenfold again but, he’s only about 10 years past his prime! Speaking of past his prime, Bruce Springsteen? If his bonnaroo show is gonna be anything like his super bowl performance, I’d be chillin at my campsite rather than seeing him. Many of the other head liners just don’t fire me up either. I could do without the Beastie Boys, Elvis Costello, and Ben Harper. Maybe I my expectations were too high. We all knew Phish was a possibility for a long time, but I was hoping for other worth while acts as well. There is a lot of hope for some big artist additions. The festival line up isn’t complete yet and as of now it is about half the size of the last 2 years. Langerado has been cancelled, but Rothbury has confirmed a second showing in 2009 and an initial line up should be out at the end of February. One article had this to say about the Rothbury Bonnaroo issue. “For the last few years the promoters of Bonnaroo have successfully transformed the event’s image from Hippie Jam Fest to the nation’s best and biggest music festival. If they signed both Phish and The Dead for Bonnaroo 2009 they’d lose all the credibility with the mainstream audience they’ve worked so hard to build since 2002. The folks behind Rothbury don’t have that problem. AEG Live and Madison House embraced the jam fans and have nothing to lose and everything to gain by being the first festival to feature both bands in the same lineup.” Though now that Phish has officially announced Bonnaroo, it may make it less likely that they will make an appearance at rothbury 09. So as it stands I’m on the cliff about Bonnaroo. Since two Phish tickets are about the same price as a bonnaroo ticket, it might be worth it after all. Better yet, I might work it. Yet there’s still a chance that Rothbury will come out and upstage Bonnaroo again. I’d love to do both but might not be able to afford it. Decisions.

Okay.. If I could take about 10 of these bands and about 6-8 other bands from coachella and mix em up reeeeal nice in a bowl I might consider spending that much cash on that show.
But for now.. Both coachella, and the roo seem like poo. Considering how much it costs..that's all.

Anyway, what turns me off from bonnaroo is that TN cops are notoriously shitty and pretty bible belt thus real shitty against "damn hippies and their festival"

dude, the bonnaroo cops are never that bad. My friends always work safety. They got to pick and choose who to confiscate drugs from, They always searched harder when the people were assholes. They also told me that if you gave the cops enough liquor, They would bother you & wouldn't make you hand over the drugs you confiscated (I don't really believe that...but...yeah.)
But either way, all my friends do drugs at roo. The cops can't be that horrible

The Camp Bisco site has no single artist beyond 3 nights of the Disco Biscuits announced. I can't imagine STS9 would play there...those crowds always seem to clash. Aren't they each other's competition at this point?

I know what website you are getting that from, I was just reading that, and those are all complete guesses on that site's part. They say "possible headliners include" without anything to back it up. Younger Brother has a new record coming out so that makes sense, Bassnectar too, we'll see about the others.

". As hosts of Camp Bisco, one of the country's largest and longest running electronic/rock music festivals, the Disco Biscuits have continued to bring a myriad of talent to the scene in recent years, including: Snoop Dogg, Thievery Corporation, DJ Shadow, MSTRKRFT, The Roots, Infected Mushroom, STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9), Shpongle, Younger Brother, Bassnectar, and !!!. This 2009 lineup will include three full nights of the Disco Biscuits with the full performer lineup to be announced in coming weeks."
OK I see what you are talking about, but..
Read that carefully - it's them listing acts that have previously played CB, it's not this year's lineup.

Last year I heard about this it taking a crap right in front of the main stage and also heard that people were cutting holes in tents and shitting in them! WTF is that?! Bisco kids in the NE have no respect for the scene. Its all about who's got what and how wasted you can possibly get.
