I totally agree with you man, im just playing devils advocate here.  After studying some philosophy at my university and reading about Descartes theories about uncertainty i just had to throw some stuff at you.  Cogito ergo sum.

Yes, as I said earlier, I'm 100% sure about events that happened 50,000 years ago, because _life existed then_
There's factual, physical evidence that exists _today_ that makes it very clear that life existed then.
For life to exist, they must adhere to the laws of physics
The laws of physics were the same then as they are now, as evidenced by the life that is known to have existed then displaying characteristics that are, for lack of a better word, characteristic of _all living things_

The laws of physics were set in place by the big bang.
They didn't just randomly up and change as soon as humans came around.

I realize you're in college and you're being exposed to Descartes for the first time, but trust me, he wasn't trying to imply that obvious logical, rational, observable facts weren't true.
He was just trying to make you think.

:nonono:

We have very good evidence making it very, very probable that that's what happened... but this is not the same thing as ironclad certainty.

Considering the fact that we have very good evidence making it very, very probable that that's what happened and virtually _no_ evidence that anything else happened (excluding hearsay, like biblical accounts), I'd say it's pretty iron clad.

This is my problem with "philosopy"
I believe some pretty crazy hippie bull shit, but that's because I have no evidence against it (which is not surprising, since I'm not a scientist)
I think it's ridiculous and pointless to even consider entertaining the notion that gravity didn't exist before humans, and I think it's perfectly reasonable to say that it is a fact that it did.

I wish you the best of luck man. But all I know is that you need to get off the anti psychotics as soon as you feel psychologically able to do so. Meditation will help to assimilate your normality again. You can always come back man and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Much love to you brother!

Re: So I just got out of the psyche ward [Re: Angel_Above]
    #9726500 - 02/02/09 11:57 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

I have had a few earth shattering trips like this where i become so far gone that i start believing that reality is something i had made up for myself and none of it is really real.  On one trip i thought that the entity that was me had died and all my life was, was a series of events to allow me to evaluate what the best moments of my life were so that i could design my own "heaven".

During part two of this trip i started thinking along these lines again and i decided that if reality was all my imagination that there shouldn't be bad things happening to people in life.  I felt this tremendous guilt over the situation of alot of people whom i was allowing to suffer in the world.  I believed this so strongly at the time i was telling my friends around me that i needed them to help me start changing and bettering the world for the time i have on it.  I was telling them stuff like they would be kings and have all the joys they could ever want.

The trippiest things in real life were happening on the first trip that took me this far.  For example i was at a house on one of the busiest corners in the city.  And i felt that as i was making my decision on who and what to spend my existence in heaven with, i could literally feel the world around me changing like a machine i had made with my mind.  My friend had a picture of this galaxy on his desktop and as i was thinking these things the stars were moving and realigning themselves.  Also the sounds of the cars ripping by on the saturday night, revving there engines to show off were making noises to accompany the changing machine.

Then when i was thinking of a time that did not involve my current friends, i went out to the living room to check on them and they were gone.  They had really went to get pizza but i interpreted this as my choice not involving them, thus they did not exist anymore.  Also the things they were saying and the stuff on the tv was really messing with me.  There was way too many strange coincidences that played on my tripping mentality that sucked me into these delusions.

It was a incredibly frightening trip, but at the same time it was exceptionally beautiful.  As i was making my choices of what my heaven would be, i was able to close my eyes and instantly recall and relive some of the best memories of my life.

All in all it these were a couple of really intense trips, that had me shook for a few days afterwards.  I was constantly questioning reality and stopped tripping for quite a while.  Since then i have tripped and maintained my ego.  These intense trips have changed my life and the way i look at it.  I would say mostly positive things came out of my experiences though.  Like a change in lifestyle, being healthier, treating people better and cherishing life while i can.

Personally I just don't put too much emphasis on the extremely deep and practically unexplainable questions regarding life and reality when i trip now and im ok.  I have realized that while that stuff is really intriguing to think about, you can never really find solid answers.  You can learn alot about yourself and better your life, but if you let it start stressing/wiggin you out that's no good.  So i try and maintain the mentality of enjoying the ride that is life.

I did not experience anything like the 6 days of tripped out mindstate that you endured but i think the core trips were probably similar.  My best advice is to take a break from those deep thoughts and questions and rather than trying to explain and analyze your existence, just enjoy the fact that you exist, your very lucky.

That pertains to Gibbs. We're learning that in chem.

Lol and entropy is heat change, nothing to do with time.

And I was kidding about the time thing, but I do recall Einstein saying it didn't exist or something.

Not sure.

I think there might be different ways of looking at time. There's the human experience of time, which is to some degree subjective. There's also the more objective idea of time, like how time relates to space and speed and stuff. And there's other weird ideas, like does an instant actually have a length or is it infinitely small?
