Mycobag Incubation
    #9714463 - 01/31/09 09:42 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

My cat is about to inoculate a 3lb bag. Last grow was cooked because the incubator was too hot and the cat was wondering if it would just be a better idea to keep the bag in a dark closet until its colonized.

Thanks

unless your home is really cold, theres no need for a incubator. yes put it in a box in a closet, until like 30-40% colonized, then mix it up. some say that it doesnt matter if its kept in a dark place or not, but every time i leave one out in the light, it starts pinning before its colonized.

My house stays 72 degree all the time. I have try both ways to allow my jars to colonise. No question in my opinion that the speed increases in an incubator. I just use two rubbermaids with water in bottom along with fish heatee set to 78 degrees. The ones in incubator finish in a third of the time. But it will work either way.  Good luck keep us updated on your cats progress. Muddy...
