Hey, I saw a good alternative...just buy a philosphers bag from the sporeworks, and you dont have to worry abotu light. Just have it sit for a few months and you'll get some wonderful sclerotia...wouldnt be as sketchy. Dout you're parents would wanna look inside your speaker for some reason 
Still though, yes, its you're parents house, and against their rules...so, its kinda a moral desciion for you now!

Yes, some state's drug siezure laws are pretty draconian. Total forfeiture of the property where the illegal growing takes place. I know that this applies to MJ cultivation, not sure about the shroomies. If you care at all about your parents and their future, I would suggest you research the possible ramifications of your growing project. Also I would advise you to keep your trap shut and tell nobody!!. No close friends, nobody at all. When you harvest, make up a story of scoring some from afoaf. Loose lips sink ships. i am thinking bout growin some shrooms but i live with my mom too she had already found my marijuana plant and tore it up in front of me (i cried myself to sleep that night then set the flower pot outside and it grew back it is a weed after all) But thats cuz it was in my window sill and mom wanted to open it up cuz it was wicked hot. it was there for a month so she's not the most observant of people.
Anyways can n e one think of a good place besides a giant speaker cuz i dont have one.

i live with both my parents and grow, ive had this cardboard box full of videos in the corner of my closet for like 3 years untouched, so i took all the videos out, and cut a piece of cardboard where it would fit tight in the box, and i taped a bunch of video covers on top of that, and keep my jars in that box with the lid on, looks just like a box of videos, as for my casing i keep them under my snakes cage, cause mom hates him and wont get near it, so there pretty safe there.

HAHAHAHA!!! Thats awesome!! Maybe I'll go out and buy some scary lookin reptile as a guardian for my certain special items!!
And, the law is my LEAST of all worrys. Basically, because there is none out here, and this area puts out a crapload of Hydro for the bigger nearby city. Its fairly remote out here.....not even broadband, I have to settle for a weak ass 56k or a 500$ satellite internet connection.
Annnnnyways, Im still waiting on those spores....Dang UPS ground takes forever.

I am against the whole growing in parents house thing. But I have seen this work a few times. Grow edibles at first. Then parents will think nothing of what kind of mushroom you are growing as long as you still throw a couple edibles in the kitchen.
