Maitake With Pics

I was checking out all the info about maitake on the shroomery and realized there's hardly any indoor pics of maitake. There is alot of posts about maitake so maybe I missed some. Anyways I'm sure we can always use more so Enjoy!! and don't forget you can zoom way in
Here is Bag 1:

notice in this picture the mars looking texture so awesome
I also noticed white grow that looks very similar to lions mane, whats going on here? will they result in the same type of fruits or be different? the look like they will turn out very different

Lol and yah in the first pic you can see my funny abort on the left there. I caught my error just in time. For any future growers, Maitake likes a bit lower humidity. And when i say I caught it in time i mean, crap i lost a huge fruit, but caught it in time to stop it from rotting, and as a result it has sprung forth new growth
And onto bag 2:

oh and one other tip don't turn your bags upside down to drain the excess liquid at least i assume thats how it happened. either that or it just got to big for its small base.
I do have one question however, any estimates as to how long until i see some caps? or how long till harvest?
anyways hope you enjoy the pics, and ill be sure to grab some more as things progress. Ill also be throwing up a nameko thread just like this one soon

the bags are from fp, i took culture samples from the white block, as well as from a young brown mound. the mound never showed any signs of life on agar. But the piece from the block took off nicely. The problem that i'm realizing now however, is that there must be substrains in there that produce those white growths. and if the piece i cultured happens to be from that substrain, it wouldn't be my first choice. so w/e i have on agar could be a mixed bag of nuts
so im not really sure what to do regarding that, i hate to cut into the mounds at this point and im not even sure if they are cloneable.
i actually have a decent idea what that white substrain will turn into, as i have some bags i knocked up from a vender and thats all it produced, but it was all invitro(but i guess i get to find out now since they are growing on my blocks in random spots if you look closely). ill take some pic's of my other bags tomorrow. but again the white mounds seem inferior as far as i can tell.

that looks pretty wild. I dont think maitake makes any 'caps' though. All the pics i have seen of it look like larger versions of what you have.

No, they do make nice leaf-like fruits.

My guess is that you need to give it another 1-2 weeks for the fruits to fully develop.

Hands down my most favorite mushroom to eat. I love maitake. Thanks for posting your pics. I should have a harvest next month myself.

as promised here are the pictures of miatake from a vender syringe. they didn't produce any brown mounds, but instead white mounds. again its just a guess but i would assume these to produce mushrooms of lesser quality but i don't really have any experience with them either so does anyone happen to know? these white mounds are very odd and confusing to me lol

Reminds me of sparassis crispa, though I've never grown that one.

Those white mounds look a lot like Sparrassis crispa.

your right it does look alot like that, but look real close at the very first picture in this thread, why would it be growing on a miatake block?

Well, if it is the same strain as on the other blocks it can't be. Otherwise you'll find out soon.

Is it possible that those maitake formed white like that because you fruited them invitro?
