Our government is in an unavoidable time of change, but how we change is up to us. everyday the topic of drug laws is talked about not only on this site but all over the web. Could you imagine if every single person who believes marijuana should be legalized was to write our government and explain why they think they do? I grantee if that happened we would see a bill that same week. The only way we will ever get what we want out of our government is if we tell them. We can all sit here and bitch about how stupid and outdated drug laws are all day but it wont change a thing. if we want change we have to ask for it.nay, we must demand it! I urge everyone who reads this to write your state Representative, write congress, write obama, write everyone! the masses can not be denied. If you want change then don't sit there and just hope it happens, do something about it. It's now or never.

Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world..

Read. And tell me there aren't more important matters that our country is addressing at the moment.
Be patient, wait for some liberals to get on the court. This won't be solved by congress.

And you missed mine.
These issues profiles work on momentum. Timing is crucial. We just ended a period prior to the inauguration where congress was receptive to these sorts of fringe issues.
Now they are busy with the stimulus bill, CHIP, the Ledbetter Act, reversing all the foreign policy damage of the Bush administration.
Give it some time.

The masses CAN be denied.
In fact, they have been before, I'm sure on several occasions.
Regardless, the only thing that probably even has a slight chance to become legal in our lifetime is weed, and it's not like the laws are stopping anyone anyways lol.

you don't get it, legalization would solve many of those problems though. you must understand its not just about being able to smoke weed. it creates jobs, both saves and makes the government money, reduces prison population. dozens of issues being discussed in DC right now can be solved by legalization.

You can start by doing what you want to do. Don't worry about the legalization process. It wont come until there is no law.

No it wouldn't. Granted, the tax revenue would be a nice little sum.
It wouldn't make a dent in healthcare (if anything it would increase the need)
It wouldn't open up the credit market
It wouldn't keep people in their homes
It wouldn't build infrastructure for our highways and schools and power
I don't think getting people to smoke more marijuana would bring us out of the trough in the economic cycle quicker
I'm not sure how you reasoned that one out.

TBH it would probably screw a lot of people over because if it was that easy to get people would blow all their money on it.
Might work if they put a limit on how much you could possess at one time.

Kind of like they do with ephedrine products. Ya, it makes sense. I wouldn't support those kinds of limitations, but if it was what was necesarry to help get it passed, I'd swallow it

legalization wouldn't solve some problems, but it would help. Yes, it would create millions of jobs as well as tap into a large sum of money (look at history and the timing of the repeal of Alcohol Prohibition)

We've had tons of threads with this same idea pop up over the years I've been around here. Good luck finding a way to contact and organize the tens of millions of pot smokers in america to get them to write a letter. In other words, its not gonna happen.

Blow all their money on weed? Seriously? Maybe if they're 15. People who can get weed now already have the ability to blow all their money on it. But most of them don't, because they're not dumbass teenagers. Whats the difference if its legal? Its not like it would be super cheap.

Its highly unlikely that pot will be made legal. I do agree that it should be decriminalized b/c no one has died from overdose, and it makes you passive and lazy and not likely to cause harm. It does impair you while driving, but that can be possibly regulated just like alcohol and driving is regulated. But think about how the rest of the world would view us if we made it legal. I mean, how do you think of Amsterdam? Not exactly looked up upon. Now this doesn't mean that it won't ever be legal, but right now, it is very unlikely. And yes the government can avoid the masses. What if the majority of the US believe murder is acceptable or heroine (hypothetically), what would the government say to those people? After a good amount of time, people will realize that it isn't bad, and it will become legal, but you have to be patient for now.

Joe Rogan said it best, I figured weed would be legal before we had a black president.
