A quick question for you adrenaline junkies.

Is it the actual feeling of heart pounding anxiety that gets you off or is it the overwhelming relief you feel when the experience is over?

I enjoy feeling my muscles lose all control before/after a fight. You shake like a little bitch but mentally you're pumped.
It's just an amazing feeling of being alive for me

I could see myself partaking in an adrenaline heavy situation but only for the relief at the end. That is the best feeling in the world, "Everything's OK."

I find it works in stages...the first we all know, Anxiety. Then comes, an amp'd 'adrenaline' feeling, then it becomes so much it becomes almost euphoric. (Almost like right after an orgasm)

I absolutely hate the feeling I get when a little scare gives me an adrenaline rush. It makes my nostrils hurt for some reason. I'd rather just have it not happen.
I do wanna go hang gliding someday... not for the adrenaline rush (which I'm sure would be involved) but so that I can rape my fear of heights in the ass.

Fuck yeah dude, sky diving is amazing for adrenaline. You feel SO high.
Paintballing is also a rush of adrenaline and it feels amazing.

Dude dish out the money for the 28 000 foot jump.
I got the chance for a few 30 000 foot jumps this past summer and it was orgasmic to say the least
I forgot to mention that deep sea diving gives me an amazing rush of euphoria.

I'm don't consider myself an adrenaline junkie, but skydiving was amazing! I'm pretty jealous of you guys that do it on a regular basis. I went tandem last May for my 40th birthday. If I had some disposable funds I'd definitely take up the sport full time. Freefall was an experience like no other.
Even though I don't really consider myself an adrenaline junkie there are very few things that really get me going. I'm a pretty mellow person by nature and I don't have many natural fears. Things like rollers coasters/thrill rides barely even wake me up anymore. Bungie jumping...eh, kinda thrilling for a few seconds. That tandem jump was the biggest rush I've had for years. It would be awesome to have the experience and skills to do some base jumps with a wingsuit!

My cousin was the blue 'Power Ranger' in the skydiving scene of the movie. He always takes me up when he's in the country.

For me it's being in the moment. Everything around you seems to slow down, your reactions come without you having to give a single thought to them. Getting hit no longer hurts, and your mind feels so focused but so empty all at the same time.

The day I went on my jump (in Perris, California) they were having a 100-way event. It was pretty immpressive and I got to mingle with a bunch of very experienced skydivers all day. I watched 3 100+ jumps that day. Amazing thing to witness, even from the ground directly underneath.

When I do something really crazy, I don't feel "heart pounding anxiety". What I feel is a sense of calmness, confidence, and bliss.
My body has always interpreted adrenaline in a different way. Instead of feeling intense fear, which I DO get at the very beginning of the experience, my mind reinterprets the rush of adrenaline into a strange sublime calm.
My mind has always seen a rush of adrenaline as a challenge. "Oh, I'm supposed to be AFRAID of touching that fire? I'm supposed to be AFRAID of that 100 foot drop? Fuck you!"
The feeling afterward is obviously the best, when you've overcome the challenge and kept your head.

Interesting. Thanks for the responses, that about clears it up for me. My body translates adrenaline as, "FUCK! MAKE IT STOP!"
