Auditory hallucinations
    #970000 - 10/17/02 06:54 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

I believe that this could fit under both other drugs forum, and the science forum.

Im interested into the pharmocology of auditory hallcinations, the rare hallucination thats talked about, but for some the most interesting.

Marijuana: Very mild (almost not even noticable) musical enhancment, somtimes just a simple acute awareness in sound. Certain strains can produce more of a opening or wider sounding sounds. Some report somewhat of a spacey-soundscape to things.

Lsd: My favorite sound enhancing tool. In my opinon the best music enhancer, music takes on a 4th dimenision. Sounds are VERY cleary hear, and you can hear sounds very far away too. Lsd magnifys sound way better than any hallucinagen to date (i don't know much about dipt). When listening to the wind, it sounds like an ocean, truely spectatular shit. As you walk in the grass you can hear the grass spring back up after you pass!!

psilocybin: Some would say shrooms are more visual than auditory. I would have to agree, but shrooms are totally different in there auditory sense. You get true auditory hallucinations such, as things talk to you. Voices in the head, its not nessarly music enhancment as it is just bizzare sounds. Sometimes things sound like noise. Im not very experienced in this area to say much about this field.

Aminata muscaria: The predominate hallucination for this one is auditory hallucinations. People say this shroom is more audiotory than visual. You hear high-pitched sounds that take on musical songs. Just like psilocybin this too is a true auditory hallucinagen.Theres something called `anahata sounds' of yoga, of hearing fine high-pitched sounds like bells and violin strings

Extacy: Definatly some music enhancment, sounds similar to other music enhancing sythetics. Sound is deep similar to acid, but different too. Anyone else had anything different here?

DXM: Like extacy but not as intense.

Dipt: I don't know much about this one. They say this IS the auditory hallucinagen, with sound distortions and music enhancment.

My questions are

1. Are there any books on this subject?
2. What makes one hallucinagen do sound distortions, one do music enhancment, and one do noise distoring?
3. Does anyone know some pharacology on this subject?

I notice music enhancement with weed, begins to sound more life-like. last night when me and a bud smoked weed/dxm we tried looking into each others third eyes. he began to look like a demon and then i saw with some sort of xray vision beneath his skin, i saw his skull. it was then that i saw once again that the body/mind is not intelligent, it is the force that powers the body. i had visions of ascension and incredible insights into the universe, very trippy.

I'm a guitarist of 18 years
for me it's like this with music
weed - some enhancment, and a little more aware of what I'm hearing
LSA's - a little bit better but basically the same as weed
LSD - I get the 4d effect your talking about, plus it's way easier to figure out what other guitarist are playing
Tussin - I get a sort of phase effect and music sounds a lot simpler and also easier to figure out
Salvia - I think I hear music the most clearly on it, it makes the music sound so simple it's not even funny, it also makes learning songs by ear very easy, also I have merged with the music on higher doses which is even wilder than LSD's 4d effect, it's like the music becomes the world in which I reside.
i haven't done any good mushrooms in a long time so I can't really remember how they effect sound for me

Vibrant, buddy, whats up

Auditory hallucination is really beautiful.
I'd have to agree that LSD is the most noticeable and powerful in this category.  Definately.  Songs don't just play by in a matter of minutes.  You go deep into that song, like falling into a chasm.  You can see and feel every note, every metallic pang, every swooshing wave of brass... ahh so euphoric.

Yea I noticed on mushrooms the sounds actually seem to do weird shit, like echo off into the distance and what-not.. while the actual sounds dont seem to change on acid, but you just get deeper into it.

great subject. its makin me happy

Holy Christ...

If you want auditory hallucinations... 5-Meo-DIPT is the way to go.
I've felt as if I could touch sound. Fucking cool.

Now the dosages on Erowid say 10mg is high. I completely disagree.
12 mg is MINIMUM.
15 mg is AVERAGE (just right).
18 and greater is HIGH (I've had experiences with >20mg, but I don't like being catatonic).

you mention high pitched sounds that become music. maybe you experienced what is called 'the music of the spheres', there are a few websites about it but you would have to wade around before you found any info of substance.
i heard this music on shroom/rue combos, it can be found in the back of your head, starting as a faint high pitched whine, the more you focus upon it the more beautiful it becomes and, for me at least, it was a great tool for enabling me to let go of the meat and be drawn into somewhere else.

you mention high pitched sounds that become music.

That's weird... most of the aural hallucinations I've had were deep, bassic (like a string bass) sounds. Very low... it often syncs up with the bodyload (which I've become accustomed to) to produce this cool multisensory effect.

Mushrooms have always given me free music on demand.

Weed - Is too intense sometimes. But combined with music, it can help to lift you to a higher level.

Hashies - Much better then weed. Works perfect with music.

I've had no need to try other drugs, i don't like human fabricated chemicals. So I wouldn't know about the other things.

DRUGS - In the list of DRUGS, bread, ham and cheese don't apply.

Other chemicals don't have a direct damaging or otherwise effect on you. Your taste muchers maybe. But not your entire self...

You're right... better throw out all your tylenol, advil, aspirin, sudafed, nyquil, benadryl, chloraseptic, oragel, scope, toothpaste, etc....

You know, just to be safe. We don't want any of those terrible chemicals that have drastically reduced the quality of life for humans going into our bodies.

Don't forget to toss your flintstones' vitamins, too!

I will be doing acid this week for the first time so then i can comment on it  i can't wait.
i love music on mushrooms, it lets me hear every single instrument and beat so perfectly yet they all sound so perfectly in tune. however, when i get into higher doses i have to turn music off, the sensory overload thing just gets too great.
i can only remember one auditory hallucination, this was on a level 5 trip and a plane went past which appeared to me to be a flying saucer. it was shooting laser beams at the ground and i could hear the 'zap' of the laser beams. it was the best visual i've ever had/

its not an easy one to learn but a good place to start is here -
http://www.lvx.org/archive/index.htm
download the pdf file called 'marcotone'.
also this is a good read - http://www.dartmouth.edu/~matc/math5.geometry/unit3/unit3.html

and http://www.musicsphere.com/public_html/astrweek.shtml
a good book is 'self-transformation through music' by joanne crandall
isbn 0-8356-0608-2, it contains lots of exercises to practise.

really tho, gulp down a decent dose of shrooms, preferably with syrian rue, sit alone in a quiet dark room, eyes shut, keep your mind still, its easy on shrooms, listen intently. hehe this is the shroomery!
it seems to come from the medulla oblongata. it will dance around you and be mindblowingly beautiful, until you are entranced and forget about the veils of words than normally capture our attention and energy, until the mind's grip upon the meat puppet is loosened..... its hard to make sense of information that doesn't arrive thru the normal channels of eyes, nose, tongue, skin or ears. keep a pen & paper handy, write down whatever you learn as soon as you can.

i wish i got bass, the speaker popping kind.
something to try is humm or chant to the sound in key, resonate with it, create harmonics.
the point where the sound is created is a kind of doorway. if you are good enough at meditation or on the right dose of something you can find this doorway and pass thru.

i get really strange auditory hallucinations. Sounds like clicks and buzzes that will be heard far away one second then the next, right in front of you. When me and my friend went for a walk while tripping, i could hear people walking from one side of the road to the other behind my back and stuff. Houses creak really loud constantly. Its bizarre
