LME/dex, hot damn!

Having tried Karo and turbinado sugar LCs previously, it's just a joke how much LME/dex dominates those two.
This is after just 6 days:

2 other containers have pretty much the same growth. With Karo it was totally hit or miss IME.
You can't tell in the picture with the flashlight, but it's a lot murkier than Karo (which looks just like water) or turbinado sugar (slightly tinted but otherwise completely transparent). The sediment at first also threw me off a bit, but it seems to be mostly cleared away (I'm guessing with the myc munching away at it).
Even with the magnetic stirrer breaking it up every day, I'm concerned about getting those fat globs of mycelium into syringes.
Now if I can just turn all this into mushrooms...

Could you tell us the media composition and how you prepared it? Looks pretty sweet!

That's awesome, good to hear someone else is using it. I figured Spongiforms experiment would entice a lot of people. I picked up LME and DEX for my LC's/Agar. So much better.

Basically, I took agar's recipe and cut it by about half.
He calls for 1 level tablespoon of light malt extract (I used Munton's Light) and 1 level tablespoon of dextrose (I used Now brand, available at health/organic food stores) into 1 quart of water. I used distilled water and brought it to a boil, mix in ingredients, stir until dissolved, and filtered through double coffee filters in a funnel into my jars.
Don't worry about the sediment after PCing. I found what happened was that all of the mycelium that starts growing on the bottom was having it for lunch (you can see bits of sediment at the nucleus of mycelial formations).

As far as sucking it up in a syringe, with one of my 18g needles it pretty much perfectly shreds it during the transfer IME.

I use 16ga, same thing, when aspirated it destroys the myc... which is perfect for our purposes.
