Bored, thought I'd bring this up
    #9692608 - 01/28/09 01:00 AM (15 years, 2 months ago)

I was watching a pro-gun documentary and they were talking about reasons why not to have guns in your house as well (exhibiting both sides of the everlasting gun debate)
and it was surprising that Rosie O'Donnell had something to say.

She went on a tangent, apparently, not only about how they should stop the manufacturing of guns, but how they needed to be confiscated from people's homes and wiped from the face of the earth.

Yeah, she made it rather clear she wanted to get rid of your right to protect yourself in your own home....

Here's the funny part... Rosie O'Donnell lives in a huge house with ARMED SECURITY GUARDS at her gate.

Fuckin typical liberal hypocrites.

lol, Rosie O'Donnell. fat bitch needs to eat more ice-cream and talk less.

most people who don't like guns have never fired one. i think it would change a lot of minds. and i dont think i should have to register any of my guns, either. i hope nothing really changes with Obama in office, i heard they are pushing for a high-capacity magazine ban, but the source was questionable.

I heard something about it aswell, something to do with assault weapons.
I'm sure they'll be talking about it in February's GOA newsletter.

Oh yeah, and you do have to fire a gun to truly appreciate them.  I think if you don't like guns you're either my grandmother or a pussy.

I took my new ruger .45 long colt out to the range Saturday, fuckin' sweet ass revolver... .45 colt is an expensive shot tho.
I might have to bite the bullet (no pun intended) and get a .22 cal pistol just for target practice... .22 bullets are cheaper than hell.

the worst the government can do is make it illegal to sell high  capacity mags. they cant make people get rid of the ones they already have. that would be impossible and illegal

The 2nd amendment issue is largely what keeps me from voting democratic.
Democrats are always pushing for more gun laws... like Clinton and the Brady bill.

There's not much more that scares me than the thought of the population of honest, generally law abiding citizens being unarmed.
It'll be like Christmas for all the gang members, outlaws and the government.

how about this... the most sensible gun law ever.

we have the second amendment right and responsibility to bear arms and protect ourselves.  EVERY citizen of this country at the age of 18 should be required to take a 3 month training course on gun safety, use, and maintenance.  At this point you are issued a firearm free of charge as your duty as a citizen.  If you fail to complete this, you loose your citizenship.

people should stop taking their civil duties so lightly.  Same should go for jury duty and voting, you welch out, your gone.  If you want to be a citizen act like it or get out.

I don't know if I'd issue every person a gun.  I kinda agree that you have to be a sane person who hasn't been convincted of violent crimes.

    #9692833 - 01/28/09 02:10 AM (15 years, 2 months ago)

40 Reasons For Gun Control /start sarcasim.
1. Banning guns works, which is why New York, DC, & Chicago cops need guns.

2. Washington DC's low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis' high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control.

3. Statistics showing high murder rates justify gun control but statistics showing increasing murder rates after gun control are 'just statistics.'

4. The Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban, both of which went into effect in 1994 are responsible for the decrease in violent crime rates, which have been declining since 1991.

5. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid.

6. The more helpless you are the safer you are from criminals.

7. An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot with a .357 Magnum will get angry and kill you.

8. A woman raped and strangled is morally superior to a woman with a smoking gun and a dead rapist at her feet.

9. When confronted by violent criminals, you should 'put up no defense - give them what they want, or run' (Handgun Control Inc. Chairman Pete Shields, Guns Don't Die - People Do, 1981, p. 125).

10. The New England Journal of Medicine is filled with expert advice about guns; just like Guns & Ammo has some excellent treatises on heart surgery.

11. One should consult an automotive engineer for safer seatbelts, a civil engineer for a better bridge, a surgeon for internal medicine, a computer programmer for hard drive problems, and Sarah Brady for firearms expertise.

12. The 2nd Amendment, ratified in 1787, refers to the National Guard, which was created 130 years later, in 1917.

13. The National Guard, federally funded, with bases on federal land, using federally-owned weapons vehicles buildings and uniforms, punishing trespassers under federal law, is a 'state' militia.

14. These phrases: 'right of the people peaceably to assemble,' 'right of the people to be secure in their homes,' 'enumerations herein of certain rights shall not be construed to disparage others retained by the people,' and 'The powers not delegated herein are reserved to the states respectively, and to the people' all refer to individuals, but 'the right of the people to keep and bear arm' refers to the state.

15. 'The Constitution is strong and will never change.' But we should ban and seize all guns thereby violating the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendments to that Constitution.

16. Rifles and handguns aren't necessary to national defense! Of course, the army has hundreds of thousands of them.

17. Private citizens shouldn't have handguns, because they aren't 'military weapons', but private citizens shouldn't have 'assault rifles', because they are military weapons.

18. In spite of waiting periods, background checks, fingerprinting, government forms, etc., guns today are too readily available, which is responsible for recent school shootings. In the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's, anyone could buy guns at hardware stores, army surplus stores, gas stations, variety stores, Sears mail order, no waiting, no background check, no fingerprints, no government forms and there were no school shootings.

19. The NRA's attempt to run a 'don't touch' campaign about kids handling guns is propaganda, but the anti-gun lobby's attempt to run a 'don't touch' campaign is responsible social activity.

20. Guns are so complex that special training is necessary to use them properly, and so simple to use that they make murder easy.

21. A handgun, with up to 4 controls, is far too complex for the typical adult to learn to use, as opposed to an automobile that only has 20.

22. Women are just as intelligent and capable as men but a woman with a gun is 'an accident waiting to happen' and gun makers' advertisements aimed at women are 'preying on their fears.'

23. Ordinary people in the presence of guns turn into slaughtering butchers but revert to normal when the weapon is removed.

24. Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass killings at gun shows.

25. A majority of the population supports gun control, just like a majority of the population supported owning slaves.

26. Any self-loading small arm can legitimately be considered to be a 'weapon of mass destruction' or an 'assault weapon.'

27. Most people can't be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted.

28. The right of Internet pornographers to exist cannot be questioned because it is constitutionally protected by the Bill of Rights, but the use of handguns for self defense is not really protected by the Bill of Rights.

29. Free speech entitles one to own newspapers, transmitters, computers, and typewriters, but self- defense only justifies bare hands.

30. The ACLU is good because it uncompromisingly defends certain parts of the Constitution, and the NRA is bad, because it defends other parts of the Constitution.

31. Charlton Heston, a movie actor as president of the NRA is a cheap lunatic who should be ignored, but Michael Douglas, a movie actor as a representative of Handgun Control, Inc. is an ambassador for peace who is entitled to an audience at the UN arms control summit.

32. Police operate with backup within groups, which is why they need larger capacity pistol magazines than do 'civilians' who must face criminals alone and therefore need less ammunition.

33. We should ban 'Saturday Night Specials' and other inexpensive guns because it's not fair that poor people have access to guns too.

34. Police officers have some special Jedi-like mastery over handguns that private citizens can never hope to obtain.

35. Private citizens don't need a gun for self- protection because the police are there to protect them even though the Supreme Court says the police are not responsible for their protection.

36. Citizens don't need to carry a gun for personal protection but police chiefs, who are desk-bound administrators who work in a building filled with cops, need a gun.

37. 'Assault weapons' have no purpose other than to kill large numbers of people. The police need assault weapons. You do not.

38. When Microsoft pressures its distributors to give Microsoft preferential promotion, that's bad; but when the Federal government pressures cities to buy guns only from Smith & Wesson, that's good.

39. Trigger locks do not interfere with the ability to use a gun for defensive purposes, which is why you see police officers with one on their duty weapon.

40. Handgun Control, Inc., says they want to 'keep guns out of the wrong hands.' Guess what? You have the wrong hands.

I am a member of the NRA, i shoot in competitions, i hadle a gun every week for sport. I also feel safer knowing if someone breaks in my house when im gone, my wife will blow their head off. There isn't one person i shoot with that has ever shot anyone.

Things are not bad, people are bad. I am for more stricter gun control, but it scares the shit out of me to think it may be illegal someday for good people to own them. Even if you stopped manufacturing them, stopped selling ammo, and got rid of all of them you could find, people will still kill people. I could make a homeade gun, and i know the bad guys could to. We need good people out thre with guns. A armed society is a polite society.

I'm a member of the NRA and GOA, I just recently joined the GOA because of their persuasive idea to spend more contributor donations on actual lobbying.

The whole 'guns are for pussies' bullshit doesn't really fly... perhaps if you were the only man with a gun in a tribe full of people with make-shift spears... but in real reality, you gotta have a gun in your house, it's the responsible thing to do if you value your life.
Especially if you live 5 minutes from one of Baltimore's highest drug/crime areas, in which I do.
These middle class/working class, single family homes around here, in which (hate to say it) white people live, are frequently targeted by gang members, rapists, robbers and drug dealers.
If you're at high target risk, you might want to protect yourself.
(The neighborhood is pretty cool other than the shitheads coming in from the hood.)

Couple months ago, an 86 year old woman was robbed and raped in her own home 2 streets down from me.

You'd be a bitch not to have a gun... you might be someone else's bitch too, because men rape men too.

If you didn't think they were cool, why did you mention them?
I'm just fucking with you anyhow, I never really make a habit out of giving a shit what people think.
Actually I would agree that a lot of people that have guns are pussies.
I knew a big white girl that was dating this skinny little black pussy ass dude that beat her up, and I couldn't understand why she just didn't pulverize this guy... apparently he had a lot of bullets for his 9mm which typically generates fear in women, even if they are on the large side.

Also, I'm a Polski Boxer with a Blue Belt (5th Rank) in Taekwondo with expert experience from trainers in 'Judo' and 'China' (chin-a) as well.
I've competed in tournaments and sparring exhibitions.
My uncle, who I lived with for years on and off when I was younger, was a  Staff Sergeant in the Marines, where I benefited from his wisdom also.

I'm not trying to sound like a bad ass or prove anything other than the fact that even if you are fully capable of defending yourself in hand to hand combat... you do in fact need a gun to equalize against the odds... your hand to hand training will do little against a person with a gun.

just saying what i think is unnessisary.

if some one shoots me

hes a pussy ass

im dead. i dont care

hes the dick for doing it

he has to live on. wether or not he thinks hes a badass or anyone thinks there a bad ass is irelivent

why i have been so jaded with guns is cus iv seen where they take people.

not everyone

not certin people

specific people i know

also iv seen the pointless vacume violence in genreal lends itself too

its worth it to just be smart and not fight

but some times you gotta kick ass

Utter Bullshit. I'm a Democrat and own guns. By the way the Brady bill was Pushed by Reagan. Clinton signed it in to law.

Don’t Blame Liberals for Gun Control

by Richard Poe

NEWSMAX.COM - Anti-gun crusaders seem worried about the advent of a Republican administration. Heaven knows why. Republicans, in recent years, have managed to do nearly as much damage to the Second Amendment as Democrats.

In 1969, journalist William Safire asked Richard Nixon what he thought about gun control. "Guns are an abomination," Nixon replied. According to Safire, Nixon went on to confess that, "Free from fear of gun owners' retaliation at the polls, he favored making handguns illegal and requiring licenses for hunting rifles."

It was President George Bush, Sr. who banned the import of "assault weapons" in 1989, and promoted the view that Americans should only be allowed to own weapons suitable for "sporting purposes."

It was Governor Ronald Reagan of California who signed the Mulford Act in 1967, "prohibiting the carrying of firearms on one's person or in a vehicle, in any public place or on any public street." The law was aimed at stopping the Black Panthers, but affected all gun owners.

Twenty-four years later, Reagan was still pushing gun control. "I support the Brady Bill," he said in a March 28, 1991 speech, "and I urge the Congress to enact it without further delay."

One of the most aggressive gun control advocates today is Republican mayor Rudolph Giuliani of New York City, whose administration sued 26 gun manufacturers in June 2000, and whose police commissioner, Howard Safir, proposed a nationwide plan for gun licensing, complete with yearly "safety" inspections.

Another Republican, New York State Governor George Pataki, on August 10, 2000, signed into law what The New York Times called "the nation’s strictest gun controls," a radical program mandating trigger locks, background checks at gun shows and "ballistic fingerprinting" of guns sold in the state. It also raised the legal age to buy a handgun to 21 and banned "assault weapons," the sale or possession of which would now be punishable by seven years in prison.

Gun control crusaders argue that the Republicans are simply yielding to grassroots pressure, to gain political advantage. But polls show little evidence of such pressure.

A Gallup/CNN/USA Today survey taken in June 1999 – only two months after the Littleton massacre – showed that the number of Americans who favored stricter gun laws had declined by 20 percent since 1990.

Public support for gun control has dwindled even further since then. An Associated Press poll released on the one-year anniversary of the Littleton shootings shows that Americans favor strict enforcement of existing laws over new gun laws – the exact position of the National Rifle Association (NRA) – by 42 to 33 percent.

That same month, a survey by the Pew Research Center showed that only 6 percent of Americans believed that tougher gun laws would prevent future school shootings.

Meanwhile, a Tarrance Group poll has shown that only 5 percent of Americans want gunmakers and gun dealers held responsible for misuse of firearms.

Clearly, the pressure for gun control is not coming from the grassroots. It comes from those layers of society that the left calls the "ruling classes" – academics, Hollywood stars, Washington insiders and multibillion-dollar media conglomerates.

The latter are particularly influential in pushing anti-gun propaganda. A study by the Media Research Center released in January 2000 showed that television news stories calling for stricter gun laws outnumbered those opposing such laws by a ratio of 10 to 1.

The blame for this media bias is traditionally assigned to "liberal journalists." And, indeed, most journalists do hold left-of-center views. A 1996 survey of working journalists by the Roper Center and the Freedom Forum showed that 89 percent had voted for Bill Clinton in 1992. Only 4 percent identified themselves as Republicans and only 2 percent as conservatives.

Yet, their "liberal" views probably have less impact on the media’s anti-gun bias than most people assume. Rank-and-file reporters have little power to influence the political spin even of their own stories.

When I worked at the New York Post in the mid-1980s, I found the newsroom filled with liberals. They grumbled constantly about the paper’s conservative slant. But they went along with it, because it was company policy.

Liberal news organizations are no different. Political bias comes from the top. Rank-and-file reporters simply do what they are told.

Those of us who cherish our Second Amendment rights are keeping our fingers crossed about George W. Bush. But the monolithic commitment America’s "ruling classes" have shown toward gun control makes one wonder whether even a president is free to buck the current.

I think anyone who is for gun control is an absolute fucking idiot.

It sucks that guns exist, but banning them isn't going to stop bad people from getting guns, who do want to use them for bad. It just prevents people from defending themselves from those crazy fuckheads.

i dont speak for all of canadians but we pretty much dont give a shit about guns here, nobody has guns here, there is very little gun fetishism

nobody worries about having to defend themselves with a gun because nobody really owns a gun

i think it is a preferable situation IMO
