Birthing: info needed please
    #965389 - 10/16/02 05:58 AM (21 years, 6 months ago)

Hi all, I would like to have some infos regarding my situation:
at the time I have 5 jars fully colonized (pf tek, BRF + Verm) and I have to birth them. I'll wait another week to have the center of the jars colonized too.
But I've made a mistake during colonization, I put 50 jars (30 of Matias Romero and 20 of Golden teacher) all in the same box, and now I can't tell which are from one strain or from the other.
So casing is useless, all I can do is to birth them as cakes (btw it's my first time growing, so it's ok).
Cause I don't have a lot of time before moving to another country, I would like to know what is the "fastest" method to grow the cakes in a home-made terrarium.
I'm not impatient, I just want to see some results of my work before leaving
What should I do? Birth the cakes in a terrarium with perlite or what?
Another question: how long does it take from birthing the cake to the end of the first flush?

Thx in advance for all the infos, bye!

thx for the reply moe
Btw...is this method (cakes on perlite) the fastest way for growing them(even if they do what they want  )?

yes, that is fastest since it involves no more steps unlike casing.

2 days before you birth the cakes, leave them exposed to light for like 6 hours for two days. This will shorten the time till you see pins. That in combintaion with less CO2 than in the jars will give you pins faster.

just enough sunlight so you can see them. Direct sunlight will fry the fuckers..

I personally would dunk all the fuckers overnight in the fridge. just put water in the jars and then birth from out of the fridge. I never wait until I see pins to birth. What's the point?

i just keep my cakes in the right conditions, give them light, ect. and my golden teachers pinned 2 days after birthing...so if you keep the conditions right (see FAQ) i dont think it should take too long for you to get the gt's going

i usually use a plastic tupperware, higher than the cake. you put the cake inside [without the glass of course] and then you fill it up with water. i think its wise to use boiled but cooled water. then close the plastic lid and put it on the fridge. some people also use a plastic bag to put the tupperware inside

dunking is putting them in water
cold-shocking mean you just put it in the fridge with the glass

i suppose you need cold-shocking and not dunking
