Terrible to Combine Two Strains?
    #962983 - 10/15/02 12:43 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

SWIM has a large pan and a colonized millet quart jar of Gulf Coast and 6 pftek PES Hawaiian jars.. Would it be bad to put two of these strains into one casing?

Most likely, the stronger mycelium will win out, thus only fruiting one strain, why would you want that?

Use foil to make a barrier between the two strains.

mixed pes hawiian and pf spawn on a dung compost. Both fruited. They froited at slightly different times, forget which first, but got more hawiian. 1oz dry from most the first flush on 3" of overcomposted dung in the bottom of a 20 gallon toat. Had to ditch the project because before the first flush completed.

In this case it was obvious which strain was which, because the hawiians were tall and thin and the pf were short and fat, mostly aborts
