Adjusting casing PH value

After two trichodermaded casings I decided to go with the 5050+ tek instead.
Unable to find oystershells I substituted with agricultural lime figuring the PH
effect of the two substances would be alike. After one week none of my casings
have shown any growth so I'm now guessing the PH value got too high.
Is there any way to lower the PH value of these casings and initiate mycelium
growth? Since the casings are drying I figured mixing some H2O/H2O2 with an
acidic liquid and spraying the casings could do the trick?
I'm really having a hard time balancing the PH between anti-tricho and anti-everything.
Should I try and acquire some lackmus for indication or are there
other methods?

My friend is grateful for any help with this...

apparently you can use limestone flour (calcium carbonate) in 50/50+ without worrying about pH getting too high. that will help next time, but don't know what to tell you for this time. my friend bought hydrated lime but anno pointed me to part of the FAQ that says it's too easy to over-basify with hydrated lime and that limestone flour was much more foolproof.
