Home depot
walmart
all of the phone books garden supply centers


Noone sells it ... where do you guys find this shit?

I use corse verm from:

It is corse Verm Premium Grade (Net wt. 18lb)

The shit works GREAT, I deff suggest picking up a 18 lb bag, it will last a long time!
Dont breath in the vapors from it though when ya mix it up, dig it out of the bag, etc. Can B hazardos.

Can you explain the hazard?
I know they say some of it has asbestos...
I never really though it was that big of a deal.

I have a really rough time finding it in the winter months also. Last winter I had the good fortune of finding it at some tiny, dinky, true value that is up here in the mountains...was only 3 bags left and I bought them all...lasted me untill last spring when all the big box stores started carring their garden supply stuff. This year I bought several bags to last me through the winter!! LOL...hording vermiculite!!! I have found I have the same problem with perilite, too.

I got it from a botanist friend of mine.
He is the one who warned me about the hazarods.
When u mix it up, it produces lil itty bitty bits of verm that mix w/ the air.
Being corse profecitional verm (not organic), it can tend to have the properties of, ummm, lets say fiberglass. Small, sharp, and harmful.
When u breath in the vapor, it would B like breathing in fiberglass.
Also, what do u think the verm particals would DO in your lungs? Suck up mositure and Xpand? Sitting in there for god knows how long. Doesnt sound like fun.
Even the bag I have has warnings on it.

I am no Xpert, just dont breath it in. And if u are makeing the air particals from scooping it out, use a rebreather. B safe.

To everyone that cant find, or it is hard to find. Pick up a bag from the company in the my post above. It works SOOOO good. If u use it right out of the bag, u dont even need to steryleize it for lets say, mixing in a 50/50 case.
Maybe u do, but I never had ANY problem w/ contams. When useing it strait from the bag into a caseing mix that is.

That is greade A verm. =)

I've inhaled that shit and it sucks!

But does create problems such as cough and respritory problems :shocked:
Nothing to hazardous but the dust is definatly something to watch out for!

all the home and garden shops in my area said they aren't manufacturing verm. anymore due to the workers comming in contact with asbestos... just in case what could you substitute verm. with?

Nurseries usually have it . I find it hard to believe no one has any . Did you ask a clerk at those stores about it ? Will they order some in for you , or tell you when next shipment is due ? :cool:

thats just it...they said they can't re-order due to whomever not manufacturing verm. anymore...got me all bummin all day...no worries though, one door closes and another one opens :smirk:I'll figure somethin out.

try www.discountgarden.com they have perlite too. pricey cuz it's mail order,
but my closest wally world,s 115 mi. south. good luck
