what are peoples experiences with these? my friend just harvested a first flush that consisted of 30 mushrooms none of which reached more than 2 inches in height and the entire first flush dry weight was 7g. im not impressed.

Though not my favorite P.C., I've had plenty of huge, potent flushes from them before. You'll only get out of the mush what you put in. If you use a not-so-nutrient, shallow, dry substrate, then your mushies won't exactly tower over their surroundings. What were the growing parameters? What was the substrate? Where did the spores come from? Be a little more specific and we can try to identify what caused your midjet-mush.

Odd they tend to be very large on compost. I would presume they would be pretty decent sized on cakes and casings.
Kinda slow pinning and mediocre yeilding imo...

You know...I recently went back to my first spore print and it was of Hawaiian spores. The spores were about 1.5 years old. I had a good first pinset and reasonable 1st flush, but the second is horrible. The 1st flush was numerous but small. I like my more recent experiences with EQs. EQs have been large, numerous, and lay great spore prints.

my friend tried them on cakes and thought they sucked...really small and not so many. Then he cased some rye with 50/50+ and damn did those things take off. Nice mult. flushes with pretty huge results. Heres a photo of one of them:

That explains your small fruits. A shallow substrate depth has a weak mycelium network. 2 inch's at least.

i used two cakes in my substrate layer. the casing layer is a half inch thick. are you talking about the casing layer or are you suggesting i use more than 2 cakes?

In reply to:

so you mean your casing layer is 1/2in think....how deep is your acuall substrate? A deeper substrate makes for a strong mycelium network. Which makes for bigger fruitbodies.

They always make my friends mouse see in "pixel-vision", he is not happy aboutt that. Hopeing to try some cambo's or creepers for some nice non-pixel visuals.
