I was searching posts for preparing coir and haven't found my answers so I'll post this in fear of having someone pull up a thread with every answer I need .
1. When preparing coir some pasteurize while others don't? which to do?
2. When i let it soak to expand how long should I let soak? Should it feel like field capacity like hpoo how a light squeeze yields 2 drops while a hard squeeze makes a stream?

after winter i'll start using poo, because of where i live the pastures are covered in snow and I don't want to order hpoo. this is my first bulk grow and i don't want to fuck up with a lot of shit when i can just buy coir at my local pet shop. also, from what I see from coir grows is all I need. self use. hell brf cakes are enough but I want to learn how to do this.

I disagree. I have seen some exceptional coir grows. Its just like saying poo produces more potent mushrooms. If yout really looking for best out of your grows, combine your sub ingriedents.
For example
Coir coffee verm gypsum
Poo straw worm castings gypsum verm
Etc

I just messed with Coir for the first time today. I just added water until the section of the block that I was going to use got soft enough to break up by hand. Once I could crumble it I added water till field capacity. I didn't really let it soak just kept stirring it by hand and adding water till it was all the right consistency.
I added some of the Hpoo compost that I have which was mixed with some wood shavings as that is what they use at my friends farm. I also added some Verm to get the mix just right as far as moister content. the Hpoo was pretty wet when I picked it up from him and is now a 40lb block of frozen poo in my storage shed. I also though what the hell I wetted down some coffee grounds and thew them in as well. Pretty much everything but the kitchen sink. I still need to get my hands on some gypsum.
