Surrendering to Self

Alot of people throughout history have said that the main path to truth is through surrender, through coming upon really harsh times, surrendering, then finding truth. There's countless reports of it happening.
Person hit's rock bottom then wonders what its all about, then discovers 'the truth'
That seems to be the only time we're really bothered about truth, when life gets real shitty & we feel we can't take anymore, or just before we die for some people.
But what if there was a different way to find truth? Without surrendering to something 'higher' than yourself (cause we know how much the ego hates the words 'surrender to GOD')
You can simply surrender to yourself, stating, i want to be 100% true to who i am & i surrender all my false conditioning that life has given me to be dissolved in my true Self, then abide within & remain as your own true Self all the time. This is completely reliable as true Self is always here throughout our life.
So forget about relying on God etc...rely 100% on who you truly are (same thing)

I don't think surrendering yourself to anything helps, each of us are in a battle between our ego's and our higher functions. Once you surrender your ego wins. Religion and philosophy feed and stroke the ego, giving the believer a false confidence through a physical answer.

The masters have indicated that there are basically two spiritual paths: The path of will and the path of surrender. Either you learn self-mastery by great discipline and will power, or by allowing things to be just the way they are, and allowing the cosmic currents to carry you wherever they will. The first path takes amazing self control, the second path takes extraordinary trust. Ultimately, the seeker who has gone as far as he can on discipline will have to surrender. That is the long way around. Alternately you can begin with surrender. - somebody

Surrendering to the " Masters" may be for you, But I have the same brain and will find my own way.

Surrender is to God, not the masters.

what and where is this "true self?"
How do I distinguish my "true self" from my fake self?
If there was a "true self", does this mean that I am unable to change, as it seems this self is static and constant???

I think it means to get to the reality of what you are. The truth in relationship to God, reality, philosophy, etc. This would not be changeable.

If you surrender and you ego wins, it is because "you" let it win. I did choose to surrender but not to my ego, but to who truly I am. Because my ego tells me to act and do stuff that are not in balance with my true nature and these vibes do not resonate with me well. And which put me in troubling positions trough my life. On the other hand my true self do not act in that way... it shows me ways of wisdom, acceptance, compassion, love... etc. Which i prefer better

If I knew that I would write a book. This is why people follow spiritual paths like Buddhism.

I agree with this guy!
True self, i think can be sumed up as you without the ego, even without the religion part, existing as a human and having all these human functions. Its like a super stripped down version of you thats alot free-er.
with out the "Wants" from throughout the day, that make your thought processes strictly derivative to the day that happend.

Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important.” John F. Kennedy, April 1960

the true Self is inside you its not a thing you can find like a physical object its more like you reject all the crap thats been added to it over the years then the Self shines by itself, pure & true
the Self is constant, but not inert or boring, what is constant is eternal & true when the mind is absorbed in the unchanging Self the body/mind continues to change but it comes into a universal flow, no more resistance, more efficiency
"I see myself wrapped in lies, which do not seem to penetrate my soul, as if they are not really a part of me. They are like costumes."
what im saying is abandon the costumes as false & be the naked truth itself this can never fail
