A question about progression of spawn in a poo/straw mixture.

Okay, so just over a week ago, I pasteurized a 50/50 mixture of Black Kow manure and wheat straw gotten from Lowes.
I prepared 2 seperate casing containers, around 1' long, 1/2' wide, and around 5 inches deep by laying aluminum foil on the bottom, and pressing to form in the container.
I sterilized everything, then (in my glove box) poured out a little more than a pint of fully colonized WBS into the bottom, smoothed it out to about a 1" layer, and covered with a loose mixture of my pasteurized poo/straw mixture.
I then covered the entire containers with aluminum foil, and poked holes.
I've checked them since then 2-3 times, just peeking, in a clean room, and have seen NOTHING on top yet.
I now realize I should have either:
A)Added wet, sterile verm. to the bottom to increase moisture content. or B)Thouroughly mixed in the WBS with the poo/straw.
Does anyone think anything will come of this, or should I just try to toss it and re-start, or should I put them back in the glove box in the clean room, wash hands with soap, followed by an alcohol rinse, and try to mix it up by hand? ======================================================================
BONUS QUESTION
I'm also wanting to try my hand at LC's, and as I was brewing some beer on Saturday, decided to use some of the malt extract in one pint jar, and some honey in another.
I added the ingeredients, and PC'd for 45 min., but there is alot of sediment on the bottom, which I've read is not good, is that right? Anyone reccommend a good Honey LC Tek?
Or better yet, any good ideas on how to clear out the sediment and re-start, since I haven't innocculated either yet?
Any advice or help is greatly appreciated as always folks!
Thanks!

Why can't you just go mix the poo/wbs up right now?

I dont know, should I? That was the question, should I mix it up now, or would that hurt it?
I'm looking for suggestions and ways to help the mycelium establish itself in the poo/straw.
And as for the moment, I'm at work, so nope, can't mix it at this moment.

Well, I'm no expert, but I don't see a problem mixing it up. As long as it hasn't started fruiting I'd think you can fuck the mycilium up however much you want. It could possibly waste resources and you'd get a lower yield, but even that I doubt. That's what I'd do, but hopefully someone else will chime in here too.

It would have been better if you mixed the spawn with the substrate first and then poured it into the tub. I mix mine up in a plastic garbage bag and then shake it all together real good and then pour into the tub and level. At this point you should prbably mix it all together, and I would bet that within a few days of that you will begin to see growth everywhere.

Okay, so I had 2 trays of spawn/poo&straw.
I mixed one of them up by hand, and could actually see some further colonization at the bottom of the poo pile, and becuase of this, I decided to wait and see how the mixed pile goes.
If it turns out contaminated, I'll toss it and just have to wait another month or so until it finishes colonization, though I'm sure I'll need to re-hydrate it at some point.
Anyone have any suggestions on an easy way to do that without damaging or drowning the myc?

You could mist and then mix it up, or if you don't need to mix it up (cause you already have, or cause it's colonized) just spray it. Mycilium is very good at spreading resources around so even if you just mist lightly on the top it will feed the whole culture.
In some ways I'd think mixing it all together would reduce contaminates. While the top has no mycilium growth going on that gives contaminates time to grow. If you mix it up the mushroom mycilium will likely overtake any contaminates before they get too big to cause a problem. Just a thought.

Your point makes tons of sense. Thanks, I'll be mixing that shit up when I get home!
