waz its origin?
-------------------- Evolution is Lamarckism in disguise. Adaptation never creates a new species or trait, but rather the new species/trait always existed within the parent DNA until circumstances allowed it to be activated. For instance, every wolf has the DNA for poodles, but that DNA would never be revealed without man selectively breeding for it.

The spawn looks really nice. What are you fruiting it in?

Crumbling and casing cakes is pointless. It produces less than just fruiting them as cakes, because the mycelium has to repair the damage from the crumbling and will use nutrients to do so. If you crumble cakes you should spawn them to some bulk substrate like coir.

He is not using widemouth 1/2pint jars, thats why he has to crumble to get cake out.

If I am not mistaken he is using 1 pint jar as his spawn. PF TEK isn't too great with pints so I say go for the casing : )

I'm just saying, if you're going to crumble your cakes you may as well spawn them to bulk.

update: I left the cased tray covered for a day waiting for my ecuador to catch up. I used the same casing for the ecuador and had to make a make shift shotgun FC using seran wrap with ventilation holes until i could make a proper one. Both should be showing pins anyday now. The new shotgun is working great; plenty of fresh air exchange and humidity.

Very nice.
Those are some really rhyzomorphic looking jars you got there.
I agree that if you crumble, you might aswell spawn it to atleast coir.

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/9691494/an/0/page/0 ^^^ That thread directly contradicts your statement. Specifically:
"In terms of yield, 2 cakes spawned to coir yielded 222.4 versus 3 remaining cakes yielding 132.05g. Fairly significant, though notably, the cakes yielded fruit much faster."

I love it when pure cased spawn does great. Guarantee that is going to produce bigger fruits on average and more fruits than just fruiting that as a single cake.
This is going to be cool to see the final outcome.

That looks great. I have the same strain and mine was inoculated the 20th and is just barely starting to show myc. It's on rye, and I think the berries were a little too wet or something.

Seeing as I am doing the exact same exercise, I was wondering what temps you left the jars at to colonize? My growth seems slow very slow. Though, it looks rathers strong, just spreading slowly.
