amount of light to pin?
    #963812 - 10/15/02 05:59 PM (21 years, 4 months ago)

ok in the shroomery faq it said to give your cakes about an hour or so of light to pin but ive been to other pages that say they only need a few min's of sunlight to pin and then ive read some posts on here of people saying they give their cakes 7 hours of light to 12 hours of light to pin...so about how much light is needed to get pins going???
thanks!

Very little light is actually needed. A camera flash would be enough. Many people swear by imitating nature and giving a full 12/12 light scedule, but there is no evidence that supports the claim that this significantly helps. There are too many other variables in nature that contribute.

I've also read that putting the colonized jars wrapped in a plastic bag in the fridge over night and then birth next day, even if the cake doesn?t show pins. This cold shocking usually helps triggering pinning.
