i'm just saying, tho. i love to eat edible mushrooms, so when a person shows me mushrooms and only cares if they are active, i lament their loss as food. anyway. good luck.

I see two obvious possibilities. A spore print would be very important for these.
Mycena pura looks a lot like these sometimes. They have a white spore print.
They also resemble several species of Hebeloma. They would have a sort of dingy brown spore print, and would probably smell like radishes.
But you say you've tossed them because they're not active. Ah, well.
