Adobe Audition 3.. can't hear recording coming out of speakers

The program kicks ass so far. But there's one thing that's bugging me. When I'm recording, I can't hear the sound of the current instrument being recorded through my speakers at the same time, along with the other tracks.
Ideally what I want to be able to do is set up drums and a background (which I can already do) and then add effects (and be able to change them) to the instrument I'm playing (and recording), and actually hear all of it together.
Does anyone know how to do this, or if it's possible?

Is your mic/input set to mute in your sound settings? I forget how monitoring works in Audition. I'll try and find an answer if someone else doesn't know.

Oh crap, I just figured it out!
I have to go to Option -> monitoring -> Audition mix -> always input
Thanks for your time, I appreciate it dearly.

Hmm, this has caused another odd issue.
The sound from the instrument is somewhat delayed, by maybe .3 seconds or so. Anyone happen to know how to fix this? or is it possible?

That would be latency. This app should solve your problems. It'll take a tweak here and there.

Thank you very much!
Unfortunately, this has lead me to yet another problem. When I select the newly installed driver (ASIO4ALL v2) in Audio Hardware Setup (under multitrack view) in Adobe Audition and save the changes, the 'arm for record' buttons on the different tracks are all grayed out.
I've screwed around with the settings for a bit but haven't been able to make it work. The odd thing is, even when I change it back and save the change, they're still grayed out. I have to actually quit the program and start it back up for them to be normal again.
Any ideas? Thank you very much for the help.
Edit:
It seems when I start a new session, I am able to arm for recording, but no sound goes in when I play(even though I haven't changed anything except the driver).
Edit#2: Sorry for all the posts and edits, but I think MAY have actually figured it out... Thanks geedorah for giving me a hand.

Glad you were able to figure it out. It took me awhile to get comfortable in Cubase and ran into a lot of the same problems.
