a Self Twist

There's this Benjamin Disraeli quote I stumbled upon a while back...

"Talk to a man about himself and he will listen for hours."

I try to keep this in mind at all times when hearing or reading someone else's words.

I listen... if it's a fair criticism.

You know, I really have a problem with accepting praise. I often feel like the praise-giver is being sarcastic (even when they definitely aren't being sarcastic). I guess this sort of reaction helps keep my ego at proper levels. Maybe I should feel proud... and sometimes I do, but I still feel like praise is excessive. When I make, write, or do something that might warrant praise... I like to just move on and let the work speak for itself. This is why I don't think it is an insecurity on my part.
