Perilite Humidty Quesiton

Stupid Quesiton: Everywhere I read it says 2 inch of perilite to 1 inch of water. My question is which comes first. Cause if I put the perilite in, it takes a lot of water to get 1in, since the perilite absorbs.

I just take my perlite, put it in a strainer, and run water over it, then it goes straight into the terrarium. Seems to work so far.

We also rinsed ours in a strainer , then put into container , filled up until perilite was floating about 1 inch from bottom of container . Every three to four days we add a little to keep at max fill point . Do not forget to add peroxide to water to help control contams .
Good Luck

To answer your question, put the water in first to 1 inch, then the perlite. You do NOT want your perlite to be submerged. The idea is to have a layer of perlite to absorb and wisk away the water from the bottome of the container. Hope that clears it up.

What i do is just get the container and add 1 or 2 inches of perlite and then fill until water is standing add a good bit of h2o2 and then decant off the extra water. seems to work as well.

Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

why would you put water, and perlite in the container one at a time and mix?
sounds like there alot of room for a mistake there, and if you overfill it by chance, then you have to tip over a big-ass container to drain the water..

just put your perlite into a strainer, run water thru it until its soaked, shake off, place into terrarium, and spray down with a light mist of h20/h202.

What sort of mistake? There is no science to it. Put water in, then add enough perlite so that you see NO standing water (or about a half-inch/inch above the water line). There is no "mixing involved. Any dry perlite on top will absorb moisture whitin hours, and everything is as it should be.
