Dear LeftySurprise: What is your regimen?
    #9620529 - 01/16/09 10:54 AM (15 years, 2 months ago)

You're always like "Oh yeah, Kombucha three times a day!" "Neti's? I use those once a week!" "I eat 4.22 avocados every five days!".

Do you write down a schedule? You'd have to! You do like a thousand damn things, I don't see how you could ever remember that it's spirulina time right after watering your bean sprouts and sipping on mango rinds. I'm honestly interested.

lmao.

im flattered that you remember a good portion of what i practice for my health pyro.  :awesome:

to answer you, no i do not write down a schedule.  most of what i do is done out of habit at regular times due to slowly adding things into my schedule over time.  its really wierd, i have a genuinely bad memory when it comes to remembering alot of things, however when it comes to most of this, i never miss a beat.  honestly the only thing i could tell you as far as how i do it is habit.  sometimes i dont do everything every time, but most of the time i do most things on time.

seeing what others do on a day to day basis makes you realize where you could improve.  alot of what i have learned and picked up as far as health habits, ive learned or at least heard of first here.

ive tried many many things, and many of them did not work out for me, but many have.  trial and error.

hmmm.

well my schedule is never really set, its always changing.  for example  from thanksgiving until the new year i slacked off alot in the exercise department due to fucked up work hours and being exausted due to those hours.  i pretty much did just enough to keep my muscles primed and healthy to avoid atrophy.

so the best i can do is give you my current schedule. which even my current schedule changes from day to day. heres a rough outline of what i USUALLY do on a day to day basis.

wake up at 3:15am and take a piss.

stretch

have a glass of ACV + honey + water.

pushups, pullups, crunches, leg lifts, bridges, vacuum and tai chi waist turner.

have breakfast, generally a cereal, oatmeal, grits or omelette. hop online for a little bit while i eat.

get dressed, go to work. while at work i attempt to make my job harder than it is. i dont take shortcuts and i do things the hard way for extra physical effort.

eat again on my break at 8, and again at 10.

get home from work, have a glass of kombucha and a nice big salad or a big bowl of soup.

change into sweats and do my workout.

hop online while i cool down.

do neti then get into the shower.

and the rest of my day consists of various things like gardening, cooking and tending to things like the kombucha and sprouts, bread and spontaneous spurts of pushups and pullups.

im sure theres alot more, but unless you ask specifics ill never remember everything i do in a day.

to answer what i do and why i think they help:

ACV+honey = helps alkalize the body.

neti pot= with all of the pollutants in the air now and days a good flush of the sinuses can only help.  and i can feel the difference afterwards.

eating raw garlic= its one of mans oldest food/medicines and is proven to have a myriad of health benefits.

drinking alot of tea= antioxidants are good, we all know this. plus its better than drinking sugary garbage like soda and processed juices.

kombucha= full of beneficial live yeasts and cultures.

eat lots of herbs + spices= they help cleanse the body in many ways.

drinking ox bile smoothies= well theres no benefit, they just taste good.  :smirk:

I live in the American Gardens Building on W. 81st Street on the 11th floor. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

How do you eat your raw garlic?

I've suddenly started wanting to eat raw garlic so I looked up some recipes in a raw food cook book and found a recipe for raw soup made with pine nuts, tomatoes, garlic & other things. I felt amazing after eating it, but I hung out with my bro later and he said I was just wreaking of garlic lol....so I'm not sure what to do. I was thinking about eating it before bed or eating a few cloves here and there.

I did some research afterwards and found the chemical that gives garlic it's characteristic smell, allicin, is a sulfite and our noses are extremely sensitive to sulfur derivatives for some reason.

Chew parsley after eating garlic or other foods which can cause bad breath.  Fresh or dried parsley, doesn't really matter.  It works amazingly well, it kills the odors rather than covering them up.

i either chop it up and add it into soup after its done cooking, OR i chew it whole with a spoonful of honey.  i chew quickly, swallow and immediately chew on a handful of parsley.  it does help, but unfortunately theres no way to mask all of the garlic funk.  if you eat it, youre just going to smell like it.

For me its all about the Kombucha, green tea (Best tea ever, a little expensive but worth it.  I get their 7 star sencha),  and reishi mushrooms.  Simple but effective.

I also like to sit zazen every morning and night (30-60 mins each time, lots more when I am not working), I workout with kettlebells and bodyweight exercises 3-4 times a week, there is also an intense staircase in a nature park nearby that I like to run up and down with a load on my back once or twice a week.

The Qigong I try and do whenever I have time (I like the standing style exercises). Another form that I developed is to sit on my zafu, and spin 2 billiard balls in each hand (like those chinese iron chime balls) working my energy pathways by moving my attention around my body (seems to really help my back, neck, and relieves any developing tendonitis in my forearms and wrists from guitar playing).  Guitar playing can be a form of qigong in and of itself by focusing on the smaller movements and isolating any tension.  I find smoking a little pot before any form of tantric practice (moving energy around) to be incredibly effective.

The neti I do once or twice a day, and I play guitar almost constantly (professional/teacher).

Just thought I'd add my regimen as well...

:hippie:

Curious about things like the neti pot and all other stuff involving how to better oneself. Did you do plenty of research before trying/purchasing, or did you give it a go and experience results you enjoyed? (Oh Masterful guru...)

depends.  normally i have to be to work at 4:30am and im asleep anywhere from 9-10pm 10 at the very latest.  its hard for me to fall asleep before 9pm so its also hard for me to get the 7-8 hours i would like to get.  if i go to bed at 9 then i get 6.5 hours, i generally get about 6.

i hear you on the herbs and spices. i make a lot of curries in a given month, and i almost never make the same one twice.

i like to avoid routine in most endeavors, but almost all of the foods that go into my diet are consistent; basil, dill, bay, cinimon, cloves, nutmeg, turmeric, chilies, in a large variety, onions/shallots/leeks, garlic, also in variety of types, carrots, whole wheat, old fashioned oats, grain corn and a large assortment of mushrooms, legumes, fish and meats. i drink a lot of coffee, and most of my dairy comes with that.

that's a fairly normal diet, for those who plan what they eat and like spices, and i sporadically and often mix many things in with it, but even that is a lot of things to remember, and most of it is habit. this is mostly the habit of my cooking styles, and i really don't have to think about it.
