Growbaby's Monotub Rehydration Tek

Okay, so this is tek that I've stolen, but I wanted to show you how I am re-hydrating my monotub.
Here is a shot of the monotub tub that I am re-hydrating. Now, I have already gotten a first very good flush and an excellent secondary flush.

What happens is that the big ass cake eventually dries up. I want to get more flushes out of it so I need to rehydrate the cake.
the cake has really shrunk and here are a few straggler shrooms. I harvested all of them prior to rehydrating.

Okay, when I bought the tote for my monotub, I bought three more identical tubs for rehydrating. They only differ in the color of the tote.

I took my drill and put a 1.5 inch hole saw bit on it. You can use other things, but I prefer a drill.

Turn over only ONE of the tub and drill a shit load of holes. Basically, you are making a giant colander so you can drain out your cake later. But I am getting ahead of myself.

GENTLY remove your cake from the monotub and place in in the tub with the holes. If it is too dry, it could crumble, so be careful. GENTLE!!!

Now, take the tub with the holes and place it inside another tub. (No holes in the bottom of the second one, of course.) And now you want to fill it with water. Fill it with enough water so that the cakes floats and you could fully submerged the cake.

Now, don't try to submerge it with your hand, or else it will break. What you do is take the THIRD tub and slip it inside of the tub with the holes. You then fill this tub with just enough water to weight down the tub so that it submerges the cake fully.

You need to soak it for at least 12 hours. I will post some pics later when I am done.
What I am doing now is cleaning out the monotub itself. I am changing out the bin liner, as well as changing out all the polyfil, and giving everything a real good alcohol rub down. Once the cake gets to this point of colonization, contamination seems to be less of an issue. I will probably get a two or more flushes out of it after soaking.
More pics to come. :-)

i do something similar but on a much smaller scale, with margarine tubs or small trays.
after a flush, fill with enough water to just cover the casing. put another weighted tray on top to hold it under water. leave for a couple of hours to rehydrate. upend, and use the tray on top to gently squeeze the casing to remove excess water. leave for another hour or so(right way up)to allow water to drain upend again and gently squeeze. this will likely be yellow metabolite rich water. and place back in fc.
i see no reason why you couldn't do the same with a mono-tub. without the need to ruin a good tub, which you may find a better use for.

Ah, what a morning. The cake has soaked overnight and is fully re-hydrated. Now all I have to do is to simply pull the tub up and let all the water drain out of the bottom, and give the cake a few hours to drain. I cleaning the monotub itself right now. I sprayed it down liberally with alcohol and allowed to air dry, and changed the polyfil and the bin liner. :-)
More pics to come soon.

Plus many more months.
So how did the re-hydration go? Did you get many more flushes from dunking it?

Plus even more months. Did it crumble all to pieces? Did you get good flushes? Are you dead? Have you joined a fundamentalist church and renounced the internet?

I've just been 'watering' my tubs between flushes. I weigh out the flush, then rehydrate with approx. that much weight in water.
So far for my bigger tubs, ends up being 1-2 cups of water and I do it about 1/2 cup at a time over 2-3 days.
