retarded question -- crumbled cakes
    #961061 -

This is a stupid question i know. I have some jars growing that are in fact shouldered (couldnt find non-shouldred in these parts and dares not use drinking glasses yet, i have since gotten them).

The jars have different strains but i im sure i'll have to spoon the mycelium out. the question is:

could i just take the mycelium and clump into cake form and birth it? or would it fall apart?

i'd love to case them but they are different strains ( i didnt mark them - I know i know, i have since gotten my act together..)

or use little rubbermaid cups to case?

I'm just getting going on this hobby and i'm getting better, so please forgive the lameness ive gotten myself into.

thanks

FSY

Just do small, individual casings for each.

If you're just beginning, case them in straight vermiculite. It's really not much better than growing off the cake but if you've gotta break the cakes anyway, might as well increase the surface area for fruiting by casing it.

Here's a link to an easy casing tek:

Don't bother clumping the cakes back together... all that handling just adds more risk for contam. If you've gotta break them up, just do the casing tek in that link.
