Do not buy, it might help lower the particles in your air a small amount but it'll mainly just stir up the air during your inoculation procedure, you want as still air as possible while innoculating, use the glove box.

I run a air purifier sometimes before I use my GB but I've never had anything contaminate from my inoculation procedures anyway.

It would help lower the contaminant spore load in your inoculation room, but that doesn't matter with your glove box. As large_dose said, the glove box works by still air.

well the secret is to shut it off when your going to begin your work, but yes it is largely unnecessary. I just bought it cause it was on sale cheap.

A FOAF was considering getting somekind of air purifier/HEPA, not for inoculation purposes but for keeping a sterile workspace/fruiting environment. Is this worth it or should they just stick with disinfectant?

The truth is that it's during the colonizing stage that contaminants are a problem so unless you want to get sterile air during your glovebox time or spawning it's a complete waste. Once the mushrooms have the substrate the only thing that will give contaminants the upper hand in taking over is if the mycilium exhausts the nutrients. There is no point in trying to integrate sterile air conditions into your operations after the substrate is colonized.
BTW: the two people here with HEPA filters just got them cause they were cheap... tell you anything in that? It's not necessary for glovebox or spawning work.
