Fedor vs. Arlovski

I just saw this announced on TV today..
Fedor Emelianenko vs Andrei Arlovski on Jan 24th.
I think Andrei has never been the same since Tim Sylvia knocked his ass out. I don't see Fedor having any problems with beating him, but this could be a stunner since Arlovski has been on a winning streak, and has seem to be back on the road that made him the UFC champ.

Freddie knows his boxing, I'll give him that. He has trained allot of top fighters in his time. But i don't know what his expertise in MMA is.

He doesn't have expertise in MMA. And an Arlovski confident in his hands is an Arlovski who isn't gonna stay on his feet very long against Fedor.
It's really fucking hard to hit someone when they're better at wrestling and want you on the ground.

here's my PbP for the main event.
The staredown. Arlovski looks like a caveman who just butchered down some fresh boar. Fedor looks like he's about to fall asleep.
Bell rings.
Arlovski circles around with his signature stance. Fedor yawns while doing his crazy open orthodox stance.
Arlovski comes charging in with his 1-2 combination. And just as Fedor appears to be nodding off, he goes Goodridge on Arlovski, who covers up and crumples into the corner.
Fedor gets his arm raised, takes a look at the floor, then takes a nap.
End of fight.

You know why not give Fedor your whole damn game plan in that video.
I am getting super hyped to stand and trade with you grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... Fedor is going to take his ass down to the ground, and spank him.

hahaha, the ref broke up a fully locked in Americana before Arlovski could tap. I doubt he'll get another victory by way of corruption again, especially against Fedor.

If you think that was a fully locked Americana or Arlovski was in danger of being submitted you have a lot to learn about submissions.
I do not however agree with the stand up. I don't agree with any stand ups in MMA, ESPECIALLY when someone has side mount.

I will tune in just to see Fedor.
Any of his fights are "must-see" television for me.
I'm not a big MMA guy, but he is by far my favorite fighter.

I still think it's fucking hilarious how fast he beat Sylvia. The actual fight starts at 4:40.

it's funny seeing Fedor next to Arlovski.
On one side you have someone who looks like he's been hitting the gym in some cave in the mountains.
the other guy looks like he just got off the sofa taking a nap and decided he wants to fight.

Anyone know the time-schedule for this PPV?
I have to leave at around midnight ET.
Any chance I catch the main event?

Don't get cute with Fedor.
Was that a flying knee attempt?

That was fucking sickening. Arlovski was doing really good too. I'm surprised Fedor didn't attempt to take him to the ground early in the fight. What the hell was Arlovski thinking? Did he really think he had him? Fedor knew that he was going to come at him. He timed that punch flawlessly. You just can't make mistakes like that against the best fighter in the world.

Haha his ass got spun around, the bar I was in fucking erupted. Two jackasses crying for Arlovski and the rest of us screaming for Fedor
I wish Barnett would take the damn submissions he easily could have finished that fight earlier.
Just can't fuck with Fedor man, you hurt him he hurts you back and way worse.. see Randleman, Fujita, and now Arlovski.

Arlovski was landing some short little pansey boxing punches, but it's not like he was even close to hurting fedor.
sure that kick dropped him back, but Fedor did the exact same move he did on Cro-Cop, coming back with a wicked overhand right.
Arlovski's striking was good, if it was a boxing match. But in MMA you only fight 3-5 rounds, so u gotta be designed to go for the kill.
NO way was Freddie Roache's approach of beating fedor's hooks to the punch was going to work, because those aren't power punches, the small straight punches...
Fedor was just patiently waiting for his opening, and he took care of the job.
There is no better fighter in MMA, and there may never be for a long time.

All in all, I thought that was a good card.
Apparently this may be the last show Affliction puts on? That is a shame, because I think they do a better job than the UFC. Of course, they only do a fight ever six months, so...

So am I going to get to see Fedor vs. Lesnar at some point in the future?
Or is that impossible?

Fedor versus Lesnar would be good but Dana White is a dickhead and a snob, so it probably won't happen any time soon. I watched a clip of Fedor knocking Arlovski out, it was alright. Arlovski tried to do a jumping knee and got knocked out with an overhand right. There was really no action before that though, from what I've read. No one was doing anything good before that. A lot of people were trying to say Arlovski was putting Fedor in "trouble" but I don't think he really did. I think Fedor was just feeling him out and toying with him, ,as none of Arlovski's strikes did any damage at all.

eh, honestly i don't think there's really much anticipation surrounding Lesnar vs Fedor, it's really not that intriguing of a matchup.
Brock is basically a product of the UFC hype machine, he really has yet to pay his dues in the sport. His only really credible win was against a PERFECT stylistic matchup for him, a smaller, weaker wrestler.
I really don't think Brock has even earned a shot at Fedor. He needs to fight more stylistic challenges, like a sick jiu jitsu fighter off his back, or a highly talented standup fighter with strong TD defense.

As a casual fan, I would just like to see Sleepy Fedor face off against a giant steroid freak with a huge cock on his chest.
It may not be good for MMA, but I would love it.

fedor's gameplan was flawless as always.
The only hard show he landed before the KO was that left hook to Arlovski's body, that had him backing up to the ropes before they clinched.
I also noticed how fedor would duck low and sort of fake commiting body shots with his right. In a way, he kind of baited Arlovski into the flying knee, because the one time he ducked low like he was going for another body shot, he came out with the overhand right.
I think that one hard body shot is what set up the KO, because u can tell it hurt Arlovski to the point where he began dropping his hands when fedor would maneuver into his range.
"I knew he was prone to making mistakes, so I just waited for him to make one, and threw my right hand."

It would be good because the huge steroid freak (growth hormone freak) would actually be a challenge to Fedor, and Fedor is impressed with Lesnar's speed. It wouldn't be so good for MMA if Lesnar wins, but then again UFC isn't good for MMA, neither are idiotic american fans.

Problem is Lesner isn't going to beat Frank Mir, so Brock really ain't in-line for anything.... Mir is back in his winning form, and maybe the only man who i can say would be able to give Fedor a good fight. I still say if Mir had never been in that accident he would be a total fucking beast right now. You'd have never seen Arlovski, or Syliva as UFC HW champs. Give Mir a year or so to finally get his head back in it, then id love to see Fedor Vs Mir.

THey've said that about pretty much every touted guy fedor ends up demolishing.
They said that about Cro-Cop, about Tim Sylvia, and about Arlovski.
Every time it's been "the only guy who could possibly give Fedor a challenge is (insert blank)"
But for a guy like Frank Mir, Fedor is the worst possible stylistic matchup. The WORST.
Fedor is better than Mir at Mir's strengths (submission grappling, positioning), and by far prevails against Mir's weaknesses (standup, cardio, clinch, wrestling).

You're an MMA guy, how many years of top-form does Fedor have left?
He's not one of the older guys, but can he do this for 5 more years? 10?

i think it will depend on the recurrence of his injuries. The broken hand thing happens alot for him against Zulu, against Cro-Cop, against Hunt....
You can never really tell, but he has shown no signs of slowing down.
It's tough though, most of the best guys out there who reached the pinnacle of the sport had pretty short half lives, mainly because when you're champ, you face nothing but stiff competition.
Kind of like the toll it took on Nogeuira. If you look at Nogueira back when he fought Coleman and Herring, u can see how much he's slowed down since then.
I think the combat sambo thing is what keeps Fedor toughened and in good enough shape to consistently succeed in MMA.
IF I had to guess i would say he could continue his dominance for atleast another 3 years.

I'm not a lesnar fan but mir was having his ass handed to him until lesnar slipped up and got caught with a knee bar. Mir got lucky and looked like a child up until he grabbed lesnars leg. Nog was extremely overrated, so mirs win over nog means nothing, especially with the fact that nog had no trouble getting up after the ref stopped the fight. Lesnar is going to own mir next time and I'm going to post here and see what you think about it after it happens.

I also think it's stupid that people say someone has a good chin. Any time they say that, the person who supposedly has a good chin has never taken a good solid punch directly to the chin and not been knocked out. If I'm wrong, someone should point out where it's happened and the guy wasn't knocked out. In every fight where I've seen Fedor get hit, he has not taken a solid shot to the chin. Most he got was that punch by Fujita to the temple, which rocked him pretty good but if it had been to the chin the fight may have ended much differently. Fedor recovered well after that strike but if Fujita had followed up on it quicker it would've been much harder for Fedor to recover. So he's clearly got some weaknesses. I can't wait for lesnar to get a solid shot to the chin followed by more solid shots to the head and chin. Hopefully Fedor will be the first one to do it.
I think Fedor trains to recover from strikes to the head by spinning around in circles then stabilizing himself. I don't know how well it works, but I don't think it can work too well if a shot to the temple can rock him that much. I think one to the chin will finish him.

Give Mir a year or so to finally get his head back in it, then id love to see Fedor Vs Mir.
We are talking about the same Brock Lesnar correct?
First if you really believe that Super Brock is going to walk in, and have an easy time against Mir, then have no clue about Mir, and what he is capable of inflicting on Brock.
The first Lesner fight was simple.. A big idiot runs at you, and takes you down to the ground, where you outmatch him every way known to man. He is punching away, like a crazy man, expending all his energy, not doing any real damage, in till after a minute you submit him, and proved he was a nobody. Sound about right?
And second what are you basing this on? The man has had three fights in the UFC? The first he got beat by Mir, the second fight against Herrington looked like they paid Keith to lose, and Randy hadn't fought in almost a year and a half. And where you get off saying Nog is overrated, astounds me. Yet Mir did something NOBODY has done ever to Nog.
So you mark my words here.. Lesner is going to try and bully Mir, and fail once again.

I watched the fight between crocop and fedor, and I don't remember fedor getting a good solid punch to the chin. Post a clip of it if it actually happened, the only videos I can find now are low quality youtube videos of the fight. It wouldn't make sense for Fedor to not be knocked out by one of crocop's solid punches to the chin when he was that badly rocked by a temple shot from fujita.

No it doesn't sound right. Mir himself admitted it wasn't an easy fight. No one wants to be punched in the head by brock lesnar.

You mean Heath Herring. You shouldn't try to discuss mma if you can't even get the fighters names right. Heath didn't get paid to lose either. He just cares more about putting on a good show than winning and he's admitted it in the past. He also underestimated Lesnar's speed and power, which is extremely obvious from the interviews. The punch that knocked herring down and made him roll backwards also broke his orbital bone very badly, yet he continued to fight after that because he's very tough.
People underestimate lesnar because he's from pro wrestling. I underestimated him too at first. A wrestler I know told me lesnar was ridiculously fast and I didn't believe it till I saw it. You can dislike him all you want but he's good for the heavyweight division of UFC.
People are just going to make excuses if he beats mir. They'll say things like "mir wasn't completely recovered from his accident so that doesn't count."
Randy also admitted that it wasn't easy. It had nothing to do with his time off from fighting. Randy is actually still improving. It was because lesnar is huge and very fast and takes his training very seriously. I think mir can knock lesnar out but I don't really see it happening. It'll be cool if he does, I don't care who wins just as long as it's a good fight.

it was in the first round
cro cop lands a pretty stiff straight right that snaps fedor's chin back, has him backing up for a bit.
It was a pretty strong shot on the button. ANd it stunned him, but no KO.
Fedors been hit and rocked several times, he's also absorbed hits by Mark hunt as well.
Many times the hits don't seem very powerfull simply because of the way Fedor reacts to them.

I really don't see Lesnar being knocked out anytime soon because he has such a huge reach and such a hard right hand. I still think he'll be submitted by any legitimate submission fighter for the next couple of years though.
I'm just saying Fedor vs Lesnar could sell out a Japanese super stadium easy. They eat that shit up. Throw Sakuraba a can to beat up on the same card and they wouldn't know what to do with themselves.

I"ve noticed that Overeem should've always stayed at heavyweight.
At LHW, he always gassed early, and it may be because he was cutting too much?
Now that he's stayed at HW, he seems a bit more comfortable. His muscle bulk has gone crazy cuz we're so used to seeing him on the Jenny Craig diet trying to cut to 205. But now that he can eat whatever the hell he wants, he's bulking up like a madman.

First off my bad for calling Heath the wrong last name but that's about the only thing you said i can agree with.
If you want to jump on Brock's train cause he beat Randy that's cool. Think what you will about Nog, but most MMA fans see him as still one of the top 5 in HW today, and Mir shut him down.
Brock is still very unchallenged. It's nice he won 3 out of his only 4 fights ever, and i am sure in time he is going to get better if he stays with it. May 24th we find out who the real UFC champ is. But I find even mentioning Brock along side of Fedor, kind of stupid, but hey in Japan they would love to see Brock get beat in 30 seconds ...
Edit: Good going on the very fast victory Fedor... Never did talk about that..

i luv how fedor is kind of like, chasing the rainbow to most fighters
everyone wants to fight him, everyone thinks they have a chance, and when the time passes and the oppurtunity is finally there, all of them end up stunned and wishing for another oppurtunity.
