US at war!
    #959365 - 10/14/02 11:37 AM (14 years, 7 months ago)

Hi there! I wanted to know what US citizens think about their country envolved in almost all the wars on the planet. Aren't you afraid to join the army? I heard US is trying to force the countries to stop making biological guns and stuff but I know you have one of the biggest armies in the world that can kill many many people.. And that did kill a lot of foreign and americans as well..  Make love not war! and, of course,  SHROOM ON!!

No you have it all wrong.  We are a peace-loving nation.  We feel it is our moral obligation to police the world since our morals and laws are the  CORRECT  ones.  We know that the rest of the world is filled with heathens and degenerates so we extend our ample morality to the rest of the world.  It is a sign of how much we love everyone else.  Please stop being so hard on Americans as we are the greatest nation in the world.  Thanks

We are not at war with those countries...

We are simply policing them...

I have nothing against US or even my country. A simple shroomerite like me can't change anything. I was thinking that it's just a waste of weapons and human lifes on both sides.. like in a lot of other US combats.

SO even if things are like this, you must keep shroomin! SO SHROOM ON!!

I think what's he trying to say is that war is a waste of time and we should all just worry about having a good life, shrooms included. Think of all the money that is spent on the US Defence System that could go to better use.

****I think what's he trying to say is that war is a waste of time ****

I agree war is a waste of time. If we lived in a perfect society we'd never have to deal with it...unfortunatly Utopia is just a dream....as long as there is evil in the world there will always be wars started or ended by those that oppose these countries or people with bad intentions

****Think of all the money that is spent on the US Defence System that could go to better use. ****

i don't think anyone is denying the fact that the money could be spent elswhere and be more effective, however our defense is paramount. Ecspecially in today's culture.

But one thing that really baffles me is, despite the huge amounts of money spent on defence, the September 11th still happened. Isn't a defence supposed to stop this shit from happening? Sure, have a defence, but the cost being in the billions is REALLY unjustified. What countries need is a SUCCESSFUL defence system.

And another thing that's ironic is the money spent on Defence actual means Money for More Planes and Deadly Weapons that we can drop in the Middle East. I'm sure the US can do fine without dropping bombs on a country for at least a whole year.

Sheepish, "Defense" <-[yeah, that's how we spell it in the USofA] is a euphemism of sorts. Think Ministry of Truth, Love, etc.
Calling it defense makes it -sound- a lot more morally justified and necessary. You can be against killing people, or policing the world, or even against war, but how can anyone be against 'defense'?
But really, very little of our military spending goes toward defending ourselves. We fight offensive wars thousands of miles from our borders.

I also agree that war will always be around unless we reach a utopic state where there is no evil. But I think the US military- the amount of tax money going to feed it, the extent to which it is integrated with politics and megacorporations and rich old white men with Skull & Bones pins, their policies and motivations, is a thing of evil in itself. A thoroughly corrupt, overgrown monster of an institution. It's gotten to the point where we *need* an enemy. Even if we have to buy one, train one, invent one? It's not about defending ourselves, it's something else now.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought of Brazil when they first started talking about this "war on terrorism."
[the Gillam film, not the country]

The world would be better off without Hussein running Iraq in my opinion. A war might even be a good thing- as long as it's fought with volunteers and not conscripts... But just the fact that the bad guys are bad and we're fighting them, doesn't make us good. "Either you're with us, or you're with the terrorists." Sorry, but- no. They're evil, you're slightly less evil. The powers that be have some very wrong reasons for pushing this war. And the manure scent of propaganda fills the air so thickly it is suffocating. Do the ends justify the means?

I believe immigration has to be part of our defensive plan,,,with all the libbies crying and whinning about letting every foriegn pain in the ass into the country defense cannot be properly implemented...but that's just my opinion.

****Sure, have a defence, but the cost being in the billions is REALLY unjustified. ****

it depends on what your defending against...

****What countries need is a SUCCESSFUL defence system. ****

and the only way to find this system is through actually implementing it a learning through trial and error (unfortunatly)
