skatealex2 said: I have this weird ocd that sometimes I need to make everything in even numbers. For example some times when I hit a light switch I may press it when or 3 more times to make it even, although I haven't done this one too much lately.
I also for some reason over look pointless things to count them like words or any papers that have no meaning to but I happen to see them. This can be pronounced when I am high sometimes, where I have to know about everything that is around me. I see something that looks interesting I might even count the letter to see that they appear even.
I also have a habit of biting my nails and I feel that it might some how connect to my ocd, because a lot of times when I bight my nails, I will not stop until I make my nails seem even and not have rough edges or whatever.
I didn't explain this too good but those are the examples that I can think of at the moment. Has anyone heard of ocd like this and are there ways to calm my brain down a bit?
~~I will also add that it comes to me at random times and isn't ruining my life but I think it is something I should conquer so I can be more comfortable in general and not over analyze pointless things all the time.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
inositol is extremely effective IME.

Generic name Inositol Manufacturer - First used in - Family vitamins (B-complex) Indications Helpful for Depression, Panic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder.
How does it work? Inositol is required for proper formation of cell membranes. It affects nerve transmission and helps in transporting fats within the body. Depressed people were observed to have lower-than-normal levels of inositol in their spinal fluid. In addition, inositol participates in the action of serotonin, a neurotransmitter whose levels in the brain are known to be a factor in depression and anxiety. Preliminary studies in human and animal models suggest that inositol is more useful than placebo for Depression, Panic Disorder, Alzheimer's disease, OCD, Attention Deficit Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating. In fact, studies show that inositol is at least as effective as commonly used serotonin selective reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
Natural sources: Beans, cantaloupe, nuts, citrus fruit, wheat and wheat bran contain phytic acid, which releases inositol when acted upon by the bacteria of the digestive system. Note that the typical american diet provides an estimated 1,000 mg inositol daily, while studies demonstrated the efficiency of 18g (18,000 mg) inositol.
Side effects: Serious side effects were not reported with high inositol dosages tried in limited experiments.
