So since you've had your fair share, what's to say you didn't get a contam while your jars were cooling in the pressure cooker? There's no way to tell.. I'm just saying that it's possible.
my fair share was years ago.i believe it was mostly due to not flame sterilizing between each inoculation.that and no flow hood.i let the pc cool in front of the hepa filter. when cooled to room temp i open the relief valve in front of the flow hood.there is almost no vacuum in the pc at this time. i understand where you are comin from with its "possible",but highly improbable under these conditions,as in 98% according to my log #'s. i dont mean to sound like a braggert ,but an ounce of prevention is worth a few pounds of cure.pc fish

I'm not saying its imminent, I am saying that it's possible though.
I think this is a good point. As Dr. Spock might have said.. "Seems logical to me captain". The hot air inside will surely contract upon cooling and draw air in from outside. The influx of air during cooling never occurred to me when innoculating, but I was rather concerned about spores which may land on the foil wrapping covering all the equipment upon transferring to the glove box. To combat this I left a spray bottle containing dilute bleach inside the glovebox prior to sterilising and sealing it off and used that to lightly mist the outside of the foil wrappings before removing them. When it came to innoculating I was borderline obsessive about sterility.
