Panaeolus Cyanescens ph Parameters Query
    #958385 - 10/14/02 12:27 AM (18 years, 9 months ago)

Dear BlueMeanie Gurus...

I have found many references to Psilocybe Cubensis hearty ph range ( typically 6.8 to 7 or 8 ).

However, after browsing FAQs and my handy The Mushroom Cultivator I have found no ph data for pan cyans other than 'they like lime'.

My query is this:

1. Does anyone know the 'offical' ph range for pan cyan?

2. Can anyone confirm a good healthy flush with a casing of 7 or even 8ph?

How high can it go? The I am thinking the higher i buffer my casing and my spray water the more I can scare the green meanines away! I have phophate balancers that can set water to 7.0 or 8.2.

BTW: New limed casing should be about 8.0ish but after time I would expect this to lower.... Spraying with buffer I am thinking may keep this at 8 or 8.2?

anyone have a sporeprint for a bioluminescent mushroom species? ( other than foxfire ) A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men...-Willie Wonka

I have found NO NECCESITY for LIME with Pans.

Straight Peat:perlite casing at a layer less then 1/4 inch works absolutely fine for me.

PANS are FAST as hell. After casing, incubate for 24-48 hours at room temp(75-80F) and right into the fruiting chamber they go.

Ph is a concern for slower casing colonization and slow pin sets. Also for long term casings.

I wouldn't imagine you would need to buffer with anything other then coarse lime, if you feel more comfortable with the LIME suggestions around about.

Anything in the same range as cubensis will work FINE.

im sure it says in TMC that they like the same basic casing ph as cubensis.
Fruit very well also on coco coir - like to try and overlay, but that seems to enhance fruiting rather than cause problems, since many of the pins abort if they are misted
