best way to learn any computer language is to write some small sample programs first, there should be many online guides.  Then, come up with some problem on your own, and write up a small app to solve it.  the ONLY way I am able to learn any language really is to just keep working at it...Books, teachers, stuff like that definitely help, but with google at your fingertips, online tutorials/guides/code samples, and an up and running workspace, should be able to pick it up yourself quick enough.

peace

Python 3.0 just came out. If I were learning python, I would start with that, but I don't know if any books are out on it yet.

Also, there's the python website.

Hrmm I noticed that too, Would this new version of python be better then the older? I noticed alot of games and such are made with the 2.6 version I think it was.

I'd just go ahead and start learning Py3k. Python 2.x is on its way out. The only reason I can think of that you might want t learn it would be if you were modifying already existing programs.
