Nothing will grow...myco bags =(
    #957891 - 10/13/02 07:31 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

alright i decided im tired of trying and maybe someone here knows what im doing wrong...now i've inooculated 4 myco bags....a couple of times now....with spore syringes, and mycellium using clubb99's honey water tek, nothing will grow...not even contam, the only thing i can think of is the temperature at this point, so what happens when the temp drops below acceptable range for growing mycellium? do the spores die? would the mycellium i injected die?, i've tried putting the bags on a heat pad @ low temp setting but that hasn't worked either...anybody got any advice?
p.s. i've waited a month plus, for the spores to grow and a couple of days so far since i innoculated the mycellium

No.

>would the mycellium i injected die?,
No.
It just grows much, much slower.

damn you're fast =), will the growth stay slow even if i raise the temps as much as possible (like 16 hrs a day but not 24 hrs), and thanks for the help

When i?s warmer, it will grow faster.
Don?t heat it much over 80?F though.

Yeah, I've got lots of advice.
1. Use the search button on top.
2. If you got the bags at sporeworks, they have information on their website
3. Inject it where the bag meets the substrate.

yes thanks, i've read their instructions & followed them as closely as i could, that didn't work for me so i tried the different method of growing the mycellium before innoculation....that hasn't worked yet either

There's a good chance you injected it in the slower colonizing way. Did you inject it directly into the center of the substrate? If you did it will take a lot longer. Also try to fluff up the bag, don't pack it down and mix it up so it's about evenly mixed. Put in a dark moist place, between the temperatures of 80 and 85 degrees.
And read this.

yeah i already read that one earlier =(, then i re-innoculated and made sure it was at the outside of the substrate where the bag touches it... my thought is that it's my temperatures, cause i don't have very good control of them & it gets really cold at night.
oh yeah and i fluffed 2 of the bags and just left the other ones as they came.

Well it needs to be toasty, 85 works perfect for me. If it gets cold it'll grow really really slow.
