Pasteurization Options
    #9577080 - 01/09/09 03:47 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

I've been using burlap sacks in a big canning pot to pasterize straw with.  I was wondering though, is it possible to put the substrate into an autoclavable bag and pastuerize in a pressure cooker?  If so, how will the sub get hydrated inside sealed plastic?

you would want your substrate hydrated at field capacity before you put it into the bag. to pasteurize in a pc, load it up, put the lid on but leave the weight off. turn it on until it boils and steam escapes for 5 minutes, then turn it off. 30 minutes later do the same thing. and maybe one more time, im not sure. ill see if i can find that link for you.
