It is BS but its skilled bullshitting, you can learn how to do it, its called "cold reading". Seems that the public majority have no idea what it is but it is a psychic con method that has been used by magicians, psychics (knowingly and unknowingly) and tricksters for thousands of years.

I learned the method and tried it on people and have had them convinced I've somehow spied on them or I really am psychic.
