thanx 2 all for the advice.  lots of methods I want to try.

my answer is  =  coffee can, melt perfect circles.  only cuz I lost my soldering iron.

I purchased a metal cup for a buck that had the perfect diameter, and just laid it lip down on the burner on my stove.  Pick it up with an over mitt, place it where you want the hole, and 10 seconds later, voila.  Repeat one or two more times, depending on how many arms you have.  :wink:

And one quick thing about flaming needles.  I fully sterilize my small bathroom, and make sure it's as clean as possible, with everything removed from the room.  I also completely clean down my glovebox inside and out with alcohol, and leave a fresh alcohol soaked paper towel inside the glovebox folded up.  So basically, in the glovebox I have my jars, my spore syringe, the paper towel, and that's it. 

I wear latex gloves, and completely sterilize them with alcohol, and just ooutside of the glovebox I have my flame going.  I wipe down the still cappped syringe with the alcohol soaked paper towel, then remove the cap inside the glovebox, and pull the syringe outside the glovebox to flame sterilize it.  It goes immediately back into the glovebox, I let it cool for about 10 seconds, and then I inoculate. 

I have never had a contaminant, and I feel this method is very low risk for any unwanted flammable occurances.  I don't think any object on fire should be put INSIDE the glovebox.
