Something tells me a homemade american revolution gun would be worth a lot more than a fully functioning gun. See if you can learn more about it and sell it as an antique!

i found 2 old black powder 1 shot pistols, one is a conneticut valley arms 50 cal and the other looks like some homemade american revolution gun, there both rusted and beat up so i dont think there is any resale value, but i,m wondering if i could turn them into those programs that give u a 50-100 $ gift certificate for each gun, think they would take such fucked up old guns?
here is the oldest looking one, better clearer pic

seriously.
both of those guns sound like they could be worth something, even if theyre fucked up. clean them up real nice and take them to a gun store and ask. if you lived by me i could help you clean them up proper.

no he should take them to a professional to properly restore them, yeah he should oil it up a bit with some rem oil to prevent further corrosion, but if he want to turn 2 antique guns in for $50 gift cards I'm pretty positive he doesn't know how to properly restore or maintain them and there is a good chance he will do more harm than good if he attempts self restoration.

Dude that gun with the fancy art...........that has to be worth something, that is bad freaking ass!
Even the other one is worth something, that isn't your normal type of gun to take to a buy back program
Man, that one is something else.

ahh i see.
so then what you should have said is "dont clean them yourself, take them to a professional"

i,m still assessing value at this point, the blunderbuss may be worth more than just the occasional antique value for guns, i,ve posted on a couple of hardcore gun forums so maybe i,ll get a better idea of what,s up, seems like a nebulous area for many people and their opinions ...

I look forward to you sharing with us what the gun forums think this one is worth, I have never seen anything like it other than in really old Pilgrim shit.

here are a few opinions from some gun lovers....
It looks like it originated in North Africa or the Middle East. It may have been made for
serious use, but many such guns were made for sale to tourists; they were never made to fire
and won't.
Better pictures might help in attempting to assess the nature and value of the gun.
But solely on the basis of that picture, I would say it is probably a "real" gun but even
then the value is not high. Before spending money on any kind of restoration I would try to
have it appraised, as it might not be worth the cost of any work done on it.
Interesting gun! Reminds me of my old thumper, M79.
It's hard to be sure from the photo, but the lockwork looks real enough - strong too, which
it would need to be in order to function for very long.
Although I would tend to agree with Jim that the inlay work looks to have a North
africa/Middle East nature, there doesn't seem to be a symbolic pattern to it. Instead it
looks purely decorative and not done with an expressive intention.
Some silver wire, or even a roll of solder. Cut a shallow groove and pound the wire flat in
the groove.
How about it was done by some sailor aboard a slave trader's ship. The old deck sweeper was
used to control the cargo.
You may not want to pay the price of a restoration by the people that do such stuff but it
doesn't look like it'd be very fdifficult to do over at home.
Find out exactly what it is and what it's history is before any restorative type work is
done. If it turned out to be of real significance ANY cleanup will take away from it's
value.
The Connecticut Valley Arms percussion piece is a modern gun, decent quality, possibly put
together from a kit (they came in kit and assembled form). I think CVA is still active.
The blunderbuss looks like a tourist piece to me and quite possibly not functional at all. I
doubt I'd be willing to shoot it, though I suppose my opinion MIGHT change after a hands-on"
