Dehydrating\drying
    #955180 -

The other day I noticed that a seasoning kit I bought it contained portabello mushrooms. Then I was like "whoa how the hell" so I opened it up and noticed that they were dehydrated so were kindve stiff but still looked fresh. Then an Idea popped into my head. Can you dehydrate active mushrooms while keeping their toxicity? I have a dehydrating machine used for fruits and such.... Anyone ever tried this before?

It would depend on the type dehydator. Most have a small fan & HEATING element.

The heating element may create to much heat, which destroys some active ingrediants.

I have read posts, where peaple with dehydrators clip the wire to the heating element, then used them with varied success.

Drying wasn't the point, dehydrating is different than just letting it sit around. Using a dehydrating machine only takes a couple of hours versus days, and also the mushroom ends up still looking like a mushroom and keeps more of its mass than if it were dried regularly. So please dont look at me like an idiot, and don't be a jerk about it.

I think you mean potency. Psilocybin is one of the most benign substances on the planet.

Dehydrating is exactly the same as drying. Fresh psilocybes are about 90% water and 10% dry matter, so whether you dehydrate them or dry them they are still going to lose all the water.

I was referring to a machine or home appliance that dehydrates.
