OOPs, stupid me --> casing

First, I cased today, but I threw the extra casing material away. I wanted to use the extra material to patch and get an even pin set. What should I do? Second I am confused about this patching concept. Lets say I patch the first signs of myc growth, when other areas have not, would I simply place some of the casing material on it? If so, after it is "even" do you take the patchings off or just leave it there?

BTW, how does patching slow down the myc growth so the other areas can catch up?

my god dude, must you ask all these questions 1,000 times over? we've already answered this.. patch the early spots for an even pinset, that's it! just make sure there's no white showing.. then that's it! let it go. it's not that hard.

Can you make more casing mix?
If not, you will still be ok. You may not get as even a flush, but your overall yield should be similar. Instead of having a sea of smaller fruits, you will have several large fruits.
By patching the first growth of mycelium you create additional material the mycelium has to colonise, this allows the lagging mycelium to catch up. If you can get a large portion of the casing surface to be colonised at the same rate you will create a greater surface area for fruits to develope from, and therefor have a great deal more fruits than in an uneven flush.

I could make more 50/50+ casing mix but i dont need the amount on the 50/50+ website. I have 4 pans, can be seen in grow log under Zwieback0. Is there a ratio someone can give me that is ample for all 4 case patchings?

This monster was one of three mushrooms that made up one of my flushes. The weight of this specimen was 108 grams. The total yeild from these three shrooms was over 200 grams.

What is "too much casing"? I don't understand, there can never be too much casing material .
Just eyeball a mix. The ratio of materials is always the same, whether you make a ton of mix or a few ounces. Add equal amounts of the ingredients for the 50/50 mix and then throw some + in for spice. Mix the 50/50 w/ the + and you will get 50/50+.

I'll see if I can find some for you.
...here we are..+
It seems to be available in several different forms. I don't think it matters what form you get it in as long as you sterilise it first.

Who says I dried it? Other similar specimens took up to four days to dry using a fan w/ summer heat.

Vermiculite is fine to use. Make sure you sterilise it and make sure to keep it moist.
