Is there a way back to colonization?
    #954698 - 10/12/02 09:30 AM (15 years, 10 months ago)

Hello guys, this is my neighbour's cat's growing conditions:

Koh-Samui. 6 jars(700ml) fully colon. wheat berries,
crumbled into 3 casing trays, cased with vermiculite,
left 1 week to colonize casing (seems it wasn't enough)
and put in terrariums under perfect temp, humidity and lighting.

It's been 6 days since then and no signs of growing of neither fruits nor mycelium.

It most probably seems that the cat didn't allow the casing surface to be colonised enough time in order to fruit later. Actually the verm surface was very lightly white in some spots but nothing similar to the fully white mucelium that has literally poked as shown in grow log pictures.
Also, all this thin fluffy mycelium (that made it to the surface) got a bit wird looking. It seems to have trapped little drops of water in it and is a bit hard to distinguish by eye it in the casings.(she only sprayed lightly it 3 times in 2 days and then ceased spraying)

The cat is thinking about reencouraging colonization of the casing so as to expose them later again to fruiting conditions and have a flush.
What do you think? Is this wise to do, and if yes is it possible?
Will recovering the casings with tin foil and increasing a bit the temperature be enough? Will she have to scratch? how is this properly done?

Please help her... She can't stand the idea of losing all three casings... :frown:

Just leave it as is, near 100% humidity, and a couple of more days waiting.

Patience is the key.

I'd love to just wait and everything be fine but i'm worried...
I just want to make clear that, right now there's hardly any mycelium visible on the casings. And up to now no mycelial growth has been noticed, since the casings were put to fruit.
If this was made clear to you before, i'll just wait patiently....

thanks.
