but trent reznor won't have any new inspiration to write new material, so I say may the suffering continue!
-------------------- hello, your name is life on earth ------------------------------------ "I traveled a long way seeking God, but when I finally gave up and turned back, there He was, within me! O Lalli! Now why do you wander like a beggar? Make some effort, and He will grant you a vision of Himself in the form of bliss in your heart." -the saint of the Kashmir Shaivism tradition: Lalli.

We need suffering to goad us towards our destiny as ordained by our masters.
Yay suffering!

I fail to see how suffering is the one that's responsible for helping us reach our goals.

I still fail to see how "we need" suffering, no matter for what, even for reaching "our destiny as ordained by our masters", whatever that means.

Evolution both biological and technological is driven by suffering. If there was no suffering, there would be no materialistic progress

Yes but materialistic progress will very soon bring about suffering for all of mankind. Look at the rate in which technology and the world population are growing. It is increasing exponentially. It will soon be to the point where there will not be sufficient natural resources for survival. It's not like you can get human beings to stop reproducing. The Earth is heading for a major collapse. It is very sad that we humans are so intelligent but we are not wise enough to save our species.

The suffering never ends. Try as you might, you cannot escape it. The universe balances everything out.

Once someone on these forums asked, "Of all the worlds religions what have they ever done for the world?" The answer to that is finding happiness born from renunciation.

I saw a bunch of Tibetan monks being slaughtered by the Chinese despite their thousands of prayer wheels.
Isn't superstition wonderful?

how is it superstition? Does thought not effect your perception of the world? Your thoughts certainly have the possibility to alter the energy you radiate.
I have my doubts that suffering will ever cease to exist for all living things, but it would seem plausible that all excess suffering could end. That just would require effort, lots and lots of effort, on all our parts to end it.

Because it is a baseless ritual with zero efficacy.

Department of redundancy department. Thoughts ARE perceptions.

Not even close unless you are making up a whole new defintion of energy; which if you are, precludes rational discourse.

Perceptions are the labels we place on objects. You don't need to think about redness to know something is red. While perception might be caused by thoughts [and memories], it is qualitatively different than active thinking.
