when using needle to clone

what size syringe needle should be used when sticking through fruit you want to clone? also was wondering if the myc thats growing on the bottom of fruits has the properties of the clone you are trying to make [url=https://files.shroomery.org/files/09-001/104876672-111or the same myc as the substrate which was ms ? sorry about the url i was trying to upload a pic  im an idiot when it comes to computers

I have tried the "Poke a needle through a stem" way of cloning and almost never got a good piece of tissue with a normal gauge needle,I have found a core biopsy from the middle of the fruit taken with a sterile scalpel to be the way to go

how about the myc on the bottom of fruits is it myc from fruit  or is it myc from original substrate?

16ga needle will do it if you're still gonna try that way.

Twist the stipe, and rotate the needle when you stab. Use an 18G needle or larger. You may not necessarily see anything in the needle but when you push the plunger you'll see if you got a sample or not.

I don't like taking samples with a scalpel because you'll have to open the LC jar which brings more risk of contamination.

Not if you do it right. My lids have one self healing inoculation port made out of silicone and one equally large hole that is usually covered with micropore tape for GE. I wipe the lid with alcohol, remove the micropore, drop the little chunk of mushroom through the hole and cover it with fresh micropore tape. works great. No contamination so far.
