Using Beet Pulp to hold water and for nutrition.?
    #952884 -

My pet rock Stoner has a friend who said he has used a pulp to feed dairy cattle that is made from extracting sugar from beets. It is dry but when water is added it holds a great amount of water and from his research he said it ranks just between a grain and a forage material like hay and so forth in the nutritional area.
Has anyone used this before and any other info would be great..!!

Almost any type vegitable matter will suffice, so long as it is composted. Sugar beet pulp remains after the sugars are processed out of it. The sugar is gone, as are much of the nutrients :frown:. So, I assume it would not suffioce as a substrate, by itself.  It might work as a fiberious type filler, in compost. Give it a whirl. Never hurts to experiment.  6T
