Dry verm=Moist Verm after PC'ing

Even since i started using a pressure cooker to sterilize my jars, i have been getting more contamination. the first batch revealed that the dry verm was getting moist somehow. I made more jars and pc'd them and then opened the lid on some and noticed that the dry verm was moist directly after PC'ing. I have tried Pc'ing at 20 min with slightly less moisture on the verm. I have also tried covering them with more foil but no results. The last experiment was covering the holes with electric tape but when i took the foil off the tape was sucked in and the whole jar was vaccume sealed. when i poked the tape with a scisors it sucked all kinds of air in.
what can i do to help this? PF Jars

Try putting a piece of foil in between substrate and verm, kinda like a little bowl in side the jars for the verm, fold it down around the outside of the jar. See if that keeps your verm dryer. Sounds like you are using to much water or your water for PC is somehow getting inside the jars. Hope that helps.

how big of holes do you have in your lids?.. They only need to be big enough to insert the needle. Also you may want to try a high grade masking tape to cover the holes then foil. How much water are you putting in your PC? With all the jars in it, the water should only come up 1/2 on the jars.

I use waterproof medical tape over the holes. Make sure the tinfoil is tight around the sides and doesn't come down past the middle of the jar. Thats too much water, I only fill mine till it barely covers the bottem of my jars. Make sure your jars aren't directly touching the bottem or sides of the PC. I've not had a contamination yet, but then again I am really meticulous about working in a clean sterile environment.
-oc PS. I leave the lids on loose during the PC'ing also.
