new spawn recipe

i have come up with a new spawn recipe; however altough i have made it i it hasn't been inoculated. i'll let you know if it works. so here it is. i made some white rice with dung water. then i filled some jars with the rice and HAY. thats right hay. im doing this because with all the other spawns mycelia doesnt have too much room to grow in between grain or BRF. im hopping that the hay will make lots of "tunnels" for mycelia to grow in. it prolly wont work but hey we gotta try new experiments all the time if we want to grow as shroom farmers.

i am continuously experimenting with substrates. your idea sounds nice, let us know the progress.

i inoculated 8 jars about 3 days ago. the jars are inside an aquarium with perlite. it is being kept inside a closet at approx 88F and 100% humidity. no signs of growth yet. 2 strains are being used. golden teacher & hautla

yeah baby. i see some growth in most of the jars. both the rice and straw seem to be showing growth. right now it's just very light and white. a reason why i am doing this is because of this. think of it like this. put your hand in front of your face. have all your fingers touching. its like a wall and very little can be seen though the "cracks". just like grain in a jar. the mycelium has to grow in between the tight space in between all that grain. Now spread your fingers apart. now you can see whatever that is on the other side. all that room in between your fingers can be potential growth space for mycelium. the hopefull conclusion is that i will colonize my substrate with lotz of mycelium instead of grain.
